Summary: eISLP -HTML rendering produces strange characters Product: Wine Version: 0.9.58. Platform: PC URL: http://www.softprogres.sk/files/eislpinstall.exe OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: tuharsky@misbb.sk
eISLP is a medical app for information on medical drugs.
When You run the app, there is a list of drugs. Double-clicking on any, You get to information window. Clicking on some tabs there, Wine complains about missing HTML engine. If I click on "Install", very strange characters/symbols appear in the window.
It's strange that Wine complains about the missing Gecko, because in the same app, when You click on the Earth icon on the right side, Wine correctly opens the webpage in the new Firefox window.

--- Comment #3 from Lei Zhang thestig@google.com 2008-04-03 12:17:07 --- Sometimes apps want an embedded IE window -> this goes through gecko. Sometimes apps want to open an external browser -> this opens up Firefox.
Looks like you're having a fonts problem. It probably doesn't have anything to do with gecko. Please answer these 2 questions:
- What Linux distro are you using? - How did you install Wine? From a package or did you compile it yourself?

--- Comment #4 from Peto tuharsky@misbb.sk 2008-04-04 01:07:11 --- 1, Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy Beta 2, Compiled from sources.
Did I forgot something during compilation? Some parameter or library installed? In fact, it DID complain about Mozilla during compilation, however, there is a Firefox installed and I don't know, what else should be done. Is there a Wiki or howto about this?

--- Comment #5 from Lei Zhang thestig@google.com 2008-04-04 02:12:00 --- Wine seems to be sensitive to the version of fontforge used to generate the fonts. I think this may be the problem. What version are you using? 20071110?

We shouldn't bother with fontforge versions anymore, wine tree now contains pre-built fonts.
