The linked demo version is in Polish, but speech is in English. Installation of the demo is straightforward. In the main menu click on the topmost button to start a new game. While in the game, right click on any of the inventory items to hear the broken dialogues.
The game starts with a long intro video, which is unskippable, thus the generated debug log was 65 MB. I couldn't compress the log below 1 MB, so I uploaded the file here: https://docs.google.com/open?id=0B-tTbLKBl-tOVXlTTjdNMXVRd2FtbF9LRGUxc1FZUQ

It's skippable on Windows, which is nice :)
I tested this on Windows 7 (on hardware, not VM), and it works much better. I had one instance of the very first line of dialog cutting out halfway through. Every other line of dialog I tried worked correctly. So I think it's probably an application bug that we're trigging more often than on Windows.
Still investigating.

--- Comment #2 from Andrew Eikum aeikum@codeweavers.com 2012-03-12 13:06:02 CDT --- Indeed, this is a known application bug. See this review, for example:
========== Finally, AOM2 suffered from a horrible bug (on my 64-bit Vista system) where almost all dialogue lines are cut-off halfway through. I had to rely on the subtitles for 99% of the game. The recent patch available from the City Interactive website made no difference to this at all. http://www.gameboomers.com/reviews/Aa/AOM2/AOM2.htm ==========
Since it only occurred for me once on my Windows installation, we might be able to tweak Wine's behavior to trigger the bug less often, at least.

--- Comment #3 from Plague 4plague@gmail.com 2012-04-22 11:07:23 CDT --- I played the whole game a while back on Windows and no cutting occurred, but I think that was Windows XP.
Anyway bug still present in 1.5.2.

Still an issue when using pure Alsa (v1.1.1 on Fedora 23), but works indeed with Pulseaudio. Any hints, Andrew?

Not really, the game is just really picky about timing. Thanks for trying again.

--- Comment #10 from Béla Gyebrószki gyebro69@gmail.com --- Audio works properly with Pulseaudio, but the problem still exists when using pure ALSA (e.g. when Wine is compiled with '--without-pulse' flag).

Does the bug still occur with wine-9.0?
Yes it does. ALSA 1.2.10 / Arch Linux In addition, it can also be reproduced with Pipewire(Pulseaudio) on my current system :) As pointed out by Andrew Eikum in comment #3, this is actually a bug in the game itself which occurs on Windows too. Looking at the reviews and discussions on Steam, this bug occurs quite often for some people. https://store.steampowered.com/app/832540/Art_of_Murder__Hunt_for_the_Puppet...
Just saying I'm not against marking this report as invalid/not-our-bug.
