Bug ID: 39187 Summary: Game Blitzkrieg (Blizkrieg Anthology ) won't start even with native msxml3 on wine 1.7.50 Product: Wine Version: 1.7.50 Hardware: x86 OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: major Priority: P2 Component: -unknown Assignee: wine-bugs@winehq.org Reporter: stjepan.zlatic@gmail.com Distribution: ---
Created attachment 52239 --> https://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=52239 Error log from terminal
Basically the game won't start even after applying native msxml3 and native d3dx10_36. I've already tried tips from previous posts, yet nothing seems to be working.
I'm using wine 1.7.50 (1.6. didn't work either), on 4GHz processor with 4GB memory with sharing graphics.
Error log from terminal in attachment.
Thanks in advance.

I tried the game from GOG.com but couldn't reproduce the problem, the game starts properly in Wine 1.6.2, 1.7.50 and wine-1.7.50-173-g8348c0e.
There's no need to install native msxml3.dll, that was an old bug. The game runs just fine with built-in msxml3 in recent Wine. Blitzkrieg is a directx8 game so native d3dx9*/d3dx10* won't do much good.
Please try the demo version to see if you can reproduce the problem with that: http://www.gamestar.de/spiele/blitzkrieg/downloads/37613.html

Are you by any chance using the winepulse audio driver (which is included in Ubuntu and Fedora packages)? I can only reproduce the problem with winepulse, not with winealsa. The deadlock occurs because winepulse tries to create a new thread during the process deinitialization phase.

I switched from winepulse to winealsa and the result is still the same..

--- Comment #6 from super_man@post.com --- I installed the demo with no issues. When I started the demo it went offscreen. I have 1 led panel 1920x1080, and external amplifier is "second screen", it has no screen only for music.
It instantly lost focus when I started the game and it seem to start, but I have issues getting it back to mainscreen.
Some cases closing and reopening the amplifier gives me focus back, but in this case it gave me this and program exit
err:x11settings:X11DRV_ChangeDisplaySettingsEx No matching mode found 3840x1122x32 @60! (XRandR 1.2) err:x11settings:X11DRV_ChangeDisplaySettingsEx No matching mode found 3840x1122x32 @0! (XRandR 1.2)
To me this is somekind of focus issue.
After this try I changed wine to open the application in windowed mode, default resolution and I was able to start the demo (moved tanks). I just quit after able to get into game

Can't confirm the problem either. Works for me under vanilla wine-1.9.8 + pulse + "winetricks alldlls=builtin". I tested here linked German's demo and previously downloaded EN demo from my archive. Both run and plays perfectly.
