--- Comment #2 from Lei Zhang thestig@google.com 2008-03-19 20:25:31 --- The log doesn't contain any useful info, unfortunately.
If this is a regression, then what's the last good version of Wine that worked?

--- Comment #4 from Rob Shearman rob@codeweavers.com 2008-03-20 07:39:13 --- RPC isn't exactly known for its use in games. Want to try the regression test again to see if you get the same result?

--- Comment #5 from Erik Hahn ng.ehahn@gmx.de 2008-03-20 12:35:05 --- This time it's a different result. I probably have confused "good" and "bad" somewhere.

But does a change in winecfg causing the regression much more sense?

--- Comment #7 from Erik Hahn ng.ehahn@gmx.de 2008-03-20 16:56:09 --- I found the reason why the results don't make sense: it doesn't always crash, so I have mistakenly marked commits as good.

--- Comment #8 from James Hawkins truiken@gmail.com 2008-03-20 16:59:46 --- If that's the case, then you need to run the app a few times for each point in the regression test to make sure it does or does not crash.

I found the reason why the results don't make sense: it doesn't always crash, so I have mistakenly marked commits as good.
Once you've narrowed down a commit, revert it, compile and try running a few times to be sure you've got the right commit. If reverting doesn't work, compile the parent commit.

--- Comment #10 from RIch dgtr.nj@gmail.com 2008-05-07 15:52:18 --- I got this error previously. How did you install the game? If you copied the fallout folder as it was installed in windows (not doing a regular from CD install through wine) will create this error. When I did a clean installation, I didn't get this error anymore.

--- Comment #13 from Adam Connor adamc55@gmail.com 2008-05-27 19:02:57 --- I installed it Fallout through wine-1.0-rc2 (no Windows on this box), and patched it to version 1.1. I get the error the original poster describes -- at first damage to the player character, the game crashes.
If I run the unpatched version of Fallout, the bug does not appear. (However, it is known that the unpatched version is subject to corrupting save games.)
It this is not a bug, it would be helpful to get a description of what mistakes (e.g., in xorg.conf) cause the crash.
