Bug #: 32458 Summary: A game compiled with qb64, won't run. It is suppose to be a windows executable file. Product: Wine Version: unspecified Platform: x86 OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: garryricketson@hotmail.com Classification: Unclassified
This is the error message I get: wine: Unhandled page fault on read access to 0x00000000 at address 0x48eb8a (thread 0009), starting debugger... Unhandled exception: page fault on read access to 0x00000000 in 32-bit code (0x0048eb8a). When trying to run a "game" program , the game was compiled with qb64, as a windows executable, so I wanted to try to run it with wine, because I do not have nor use windows. But it dose not work. Reporting this, is kind of confusing too, Most of what I see here dose not make any sense ? Hope this is the right place. thank you form Garry

--- Comment #2 from Bruno Jesus 00cpxxx@gmail.com 2012-12-16 12:41:28 CST --- Did you compile the game in qb64 installed in wine or windows? I tested compiling and running a few samples in wine and they work correctly. ------------------------------- No I did not compile it, the author did. This is a link to where he posted, the anouncment, and also the download link to the game. Link: http://www.qb64.net/forum/index.php?topic=10018.msg80608#msg80608 To clarify, his download, is a compiled version for windows, I use Linux only, I already have wine, installed to my Linux Mint 10, lmde, partition, on my computer, also, a XUBUNTU partition (each is on its own partition, with its own version of wine. At this time I am only concerend with the wine version, on the LINUX MINT 10 system,... I have also run some, other windows programs, with wine, but this is the first time I have tried one , compiled with qb64. At this point I have been un-sucsessful contacting the author of the program, so I am not sure which version of qb64 it was compiled with. This is a link to the discussion I stared at qb64.net, LINK:http://www.qb64.net/forum/index.php?topic=10088.0 because at this point we are not sure, if it really is a wine bug, or compilation error, with qb64, Based on what you say, and also, I have run other windows executables, with no problem, on wine, I am inclined to think it amy be something with they way it is compiled,...There is more to suggest this, in the thread, the above link goes to. Thank you, hope I am doing this right, if you need more info, let me know from Garry

--- Comment #8 from Bruno Jesus 00cpxxx@gmail.com 2012-12-16 20:15:13 CST --- What wine version are you using? If not the latest development version (currently 1.5.19) please update and try again in a clean prefix.

--- Comment #9 from Rosanne DiMesio dimesio@earthlink.net 2012-12-16 21:10:27 CST ---
From the crash log:
fixme:advapi:SetNamedSecurityInfoW L"C:\windows\system32\gecko\1.0.0\wine_gecko\components\xpti.dat" 1 536870916 (nil) (nil) 0x19a694 (nil)
If wine-gecko 1.0.0 is being used, the Wine version has to be 1.3.1 or older.
Garry: your Wine version is over two years old. As Bruno says, please upgrade to the latest development release and retest in a clean wineprefix.

--- Comment #10 from Garry garryricketson@hotmail.com 2012-12-16 22:02:12 CST --- Ok this is correct, it is version 1.2, I just downloaded it the yesterday, using the synaptic package manager, that is the newest version they show, I will see if I can download the newer version, and install it manually, since the package manager dose not seem to have it. Thanks , I don't know, how, or if this needs to be closed, but I guess that pretty well wraps it up, after I get the newer version installed, if there is any problems, I will let you know, but it would be a whole different topic or "bug", thank you all from Garry
