Steps to reproduce:
1.  Install The Odyssey: Winds Of Athena
2.  Run directly from its install directory

When it is trying to start up, the application will crash with an access
violation.

This is still an issue in 1.1.9. The console output:

NOTE: The application traps the exception and reports it through a message box,
so it does not fall through to the system.

For me, the application does not crash anymore, but nothing happens after the
splash  screen

Can't get any crash during installation of demo (whether using 'winetricks ie6'
or not).

Can you please retry with a recent wine (1.5.30 or later)?

wine 1.5.30 crash

For me it still crashes in wine 1.5.30, ie6 is still required to get the game
to launch.

../nptl/pthread_mutex_lock.c:361: __pthread_mutex_lock_full: Assertion `robust

It seems that the issue has vanished, you are able to get into main menu now.

with wine 2.0-git and staging 2.0, but you dont see mouse movement. So it's
impossible (?) to do anything.

The crash has clearly gone now.

Tested by myself. The bug is fixed in wine-4.19.
