Hello,

I have been trying to install 3ds Max and After Effects through Wine in Ubuntu
8.10.

For 3ds Max I am getting this error...

  End-of-central-directory signature not found.  Either this file is not
  a zipfile, or it constitutes one disk of a multi-part archive.  In the
  latter case the central directory and zipfile comment will be found on
  the last disk(s) of this archive.
zipinfo:  cannot find zipfile directory in one of /home/vasant/Desktop/3DSMAX
2008 SETUP/Setup.exe or
          /home/vasant/Desktop/3DSMAX 2008 SETUP/Setup.exe.zip, and cannot find
/home/vasant/Desktop/3DSMAX 2008 SETUP/Setup.exe.ZIP, period.

For After Effects I am getting this error..

You need to install with 'wine Setup.exe'. Does it work after that?

I tried through Wine Installer. But this time the error message for 3ds Max
is..

he file '/media/3Ds Max 2008/3DSMAX 2008 SETUP/Setup.exe' is not marked as
executable.  If this was downloaded or copied form an untrusted source, it may
be dangerous to run.  For more details, read about the executable bit.

Try chmod +x on the file first.

2 days back I installed latest Wine in my Ubuntu 8.10. When I connected to the
net, it showed me 2 options - Wine Dummy and Wine Beta.I installed the Dummy.
Is it wrong anyway?

Next thing to do is read the FAQ how to run applications with Wine:

What Wine Installer are you talking about? Did you read the FAQ?

Try execute 'wine /home/vasant/Desktop/3DSMAX 2008 SETUP/Setup.exe' from
the console. This is bugzilla, not a user support forum. If you need help -
use forums for that.
