Bug ID: 42270 Summary: Settlers 4 Gold - Hardware Rendering mode not working Product: Wine Version: 2.0-rc6 Hardware: x86-64 OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown Assignee: wine-bugs@winehq.org Reporter: bronsonmathews@gmail.com Distribution: ---
Created attachment 56975 --> https://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=56975 cmd log
The game runs ok in software mode. So this is a pretty low priority bug. Settlers 4 Gold (Gog version) - changing the settings landscape engine, and object engine from software to hardware does not work.
Attached command line output...

--- Comment #1 from winetest@luukku.com --- What does happen when you try to run it hardware? One issue could be that it cant set certain corol space for the game. There is a hack patch somehwere that could help, but you need to be able to compile wine yourself. I don't have this game so I can't test.

I think this error shows up when trying to change to hardware rendering: fixme:ddraw:ddraw_surface7_Flip Ignoring flags 0x1.
And it resets back to software rendering.

--- Comment #3 from Béla Gyebrószki gyebro69@gmail.com --- I also have this problem in Settlers IV (GOG.com). Can be reproduced with the demo version as well.

--- Comment #4 from joaopa jeremielapuree@yahoo.fr --- Unfortunately, the bug is still there in current wine(4.1)
https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=42270
--- Comment #5 from joaopa jeremielapuree@yahoo.fr --- Clinking on hardware option makes the following line occurs:
002d:fixme:ddraw:d3d_device_create Only one Direct3D device per DirectDraw object supported.
That's surely the culprit.

--- Comment #7 from galgmate@gmail.com --- I have probably similar problem with S4 Historic Edition from Ubisoft and thanks to Ubisoft Connect I not able to use older version of wine like 2.x which probably works fine.

--- Comment #8 from joaopa jeremielapuree@yahoo.fr --- Bug sill occurs with wine-8.6.

--- Comment #9 from Béla Gyebrószki gyebro69@gmail.com --- Since Wine-9.6 changing between software and hardware renderer works as intended. I tested with the GOG.com version.
This was fixed by https://source.winehq.org/git/wine.git/commit/9d95bd5f4b54a392d97f0b58db8f78...
