Bug ID: 38309 Summary: Rufus theme broken, does not see files or USB devices (or anything), crashes upon use - Fatal Error. Product: Wine Version: 1.7.38 Hardware: x86-64 OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: critical Priority: P2 Component: -unknown Assignee: wine-bugs@winehq.org Reporter: jeff.mount420@gmail.com Distribution: ---
Created attachment 51148 --> https://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=51148 WINE backtrace log
Linux Mint 17 64 Cinnamon I tried both versions repeatedly. WINE Version: 1:1.7.38-0ubuntu1 WINE Version: 1:1.6.2
These are fresh installs, with Rufus being my only use for WINE. Before these installs, I tested WINE with a few other Apps and most seemed to work properly. I then removed and purged WINE and Rufus before each install.
I tried the last three versions of Rufus. All would load, but with theme glitches and lack of USB and directory/folder/file presence, the latter being caused by the theme glitch or lack of connectivity. When an active button is used to search for a file, a fatal error message comes up, then it closes.
I have attached the report.
I am only a low-intermediate Linux compiler, so I am not sure of the exact problem, but I did notice sel=0067 (32-bit) ends at 0 (null).
I am not sure what to do with this...
Thanks

--- Comment #1 from super_man@post.com --- Please add the console output too. Also you could consider using newer wine.

--- Comment #2 from John Ervin jervin@cfl.rr.com --- Created attachment 53912 --> https://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=53912 Screenshot of Console and rufus with blank drop downs.
I have a USB drive in a USB slot, I started up rufus with wine 1.8 and took a screen shot. Just to demonstrate that drop downs are blank, I clicked on one.

--- Comment #3 from winetest@luukku.com --- What is this bug all about? There should be only 1 issue per bug report.
I quess the blank is because of get device id function is a stub.
But I doubt wine will support your application even all the missing stuff would be coded in. I doubt wine can or will handle file access at that level.
You should install unetbootin if you plan to make iso images.

--- Comment #4 from winetest@luukku.com --- You really shouldnt use wine for something like this. Linux has native programs that can do the same job.

rufus-2.18-portable.exe
Still a complete mess.
Making matter worse, Rufus is the only program that can properly cut a EUFI GPT Windows 10 ISO Flash drive for use with NVMe drives, which require GTP and EUFI.
And, and, qemu-kvm does not work with Windows virtual machines and Rufus either: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1529181

--- Comment #6 from winetaste@gmx.net --- Yes, there is a bunch of images that doesn't work with Unetbootin or other on Linux, whike Rufus works like a charm.
Tested the newest release, when the bug was filed: Rufus 2.1 It looks on Wine like Windows 10 without a USB stick. So this is normal behavior. See Bug 37166
Don't get any fatal error. Maybe fixed?
glitches and lack of USB and directory/folder/file presence
USB issue is well known. What is about the latter? The isn't much functionality. I can select an ISO and it is loaded. Fixed or do you means the USB issue? Jeff haven't been active since filling the bug.
May this bug be closed or marked as duplicate?

Still can reproduce the issue that no device was detected with current Wine.
