Summary: keyboard does not work in Trackmania Nations Forever Product: Wine Version: 1.0-rc2 Platform: PC-x86-64 URL: http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version &iId=12137 OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P3 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: boeser.wolff@web.de
Created an attachment (id=13720) --> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=13720) stderr from TMNF test run
During a testing run with win 1.0rc2 on Debian lenny/sid (almost all packages from testing) I found the keyboard is not working: I cant enter any text inside a game, thus I cant create any accout to test it further. Instead the characters entered appear on stderr and are passed to the shell on exit. See attachment lines 262-267:

--- Comment #1 from Edwin Smulders edwin.smulders@gmail.com 2008-06-06 12:21:07 --- I did not have this problem (with wine 1.0-rc1 to wine 1.0-rc3) ... I'm not saying it couldnt happen, but it's definitely not a problem in every setup.

--- Comment #2 from Vitaliy Margolen vitaliy@kievinfo.com 2008-06-06 14:47:20 --- Looks like a classic case of focus in the terminal not the game. Please try with wine-1.0-rc4

--- Comment #3 from Georg Wolff boeser.wolff@web.de 2008-06-12 12:37:27 --- This seems to be fixed in wine "1.0"rc4.
However, I found a work around for this: TMNF can be configured to -- rough translation -- exclusively query the keyboard. This is no longer needed in rc4.

--- Comment #5 from Georg Wolff boeser.wolff@web.de 2008-06-21 08:36:38 --- Well... with wine "1.0" the option "exclusively query keyboard" is again needed. Otherwise the keyboard input shows up on the console, rather than in the game.

--- Comment #7 from Adam Slagle adam.slagle@gmail.com 2008-12-06 13:50:24 --- I seem to have this same problem now, but can't find the "exclusively query keyboard" option, even after looking at the man pages and searching this site and the web with google. Could someone tell me where it is?

--- Comment #8 from Georg Wolff boeser.wolff@web.de 2008-12-06 14:49:39 --- The option "exclusively query keyboard" can be set in TMNF. It doesnt have anything to do with wine.
I did not check, but running winecfg and setting "Allow the window manager to control the windows" might also help.

--- Comment #9 from Austin English austinenglish@gmail.com 2009-06-08 11:52:38 --- Is this still an issue in current (1.1.23 or newer) wine?
