Summary: Imperivm III: sound doesn't work Product: Wine Version: 1.2-rc6 Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: directx-dmusic AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: josemdark@gmail.com
Created an attachment (id=29365) --> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=29365) Console log
When you open Imperivm III simply the sound doesn't work. It works in other wine applications in my computer. I wasn't able to select more than one component when reporting the bug, but note that directsound is involed too (not appears in the log because I only opened a game, but in-game the sound doesn't work too).
This error is very old, but I searched Imperivm in the bugtracker and nothing appeared, when I first used wine (a version around 0.9.x) the bug existed, and It has never been fixed, I have player Imperivm in several wine versions (along the time) and in several computers ( I played on i386 too ). The sound has never worked.
When you open the game a crash message appears too, but you click close and the game continues working.
Audio hardware: 01:00.1 Audio device: nVidia Corporation High Definition Audio Controller (rev a1) 00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 5 Series/3400 Series Chipset High Definition Audio (rev 05) I guess that the nVidia one is for the HDMI and I'm not using HDMI at the moment.
I ran Imperivm III on a clean wineprefix.

err:module:load_builtin_dll failed to load .so lib for builtin L"winemp3.acm": libmpg123.so.0: no se puede abrir el fichero del objeto compartido: No existe el fichero o el directorio
Probably that's the source of the problem, you need to install libmpg123.so

--- Comment #2 from josemdark@gmail.com 2010-07-05 05:09:51 --- libmpg123-0 ya está en su versión más reciente.
It means that is already installed. Should I put it in the windows directory in a specific place?
Oh I noticed that I should put the log in english now. Is there any way to temporarily change the console language?

No, winemp3.acm can't be loaded because libmpg123.so.0 is missing.

LANG=en_US.UTF-8 wine program.exe

Oh, I guess I found the missing lib error, does wine load 32-bit libs?
It does since Wine is a 32-bit application.

Sorry, I didn't noticed it before. Ok, I downloaded the i386 package and copied libmpg123.so.0.25.1 to /usr/lib32 and then I did ln -s /usr/lib32/libmpg123.so.0.25.1 /usr/lib32/libmpg123.so.0. Now the errors regarding the lib don't appear, but the sound problem continues. See the attachment "New Console Log".

--- Comment #10 from Emanuele emanuele.emalele@gmail.com --- Hi,
in Wine 1.7.29 there is no more the problem about mp3 but no sounds or music could be heard due to the bug 27809.
Anyway not having a library installed in any distribution cannot be a Wine bug so in my opinion now this bug is obsolete or a duplicate of 27809.
Thank you.

--- Comment #11 from Rosanne DiMesio dimesio@earthlink.net --- Please check whether winetricks dsdmo directmusic solves the sound issue. If it does, then this is also a duplicate of bug 35478.

--- Comment #12 from Emanuele emanuele.emalele@gmail.com --- (In reply to Rosanne DiMesio from comment #11)
Please check whether winetricks dsdmo directmusic solves the sound issue. If it does, then this is also a duplicate of bug 35478.
...and also this game is affected by 35478: I confirm that the suggested WA works also for this.
Could you please modify the bug link to redirect only to 35478 and not to 23524?
Thank you as usual.
