Bug ID: 40849 Summary: Ashes of the Singularity (DX11, Windows 10 64-bit) fails to start Product: Wine Version: 1.9.12 Hardware: x86-64 OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown Assignee: wine-bugs@winehq.org Reporter: fjfrackiewicz@gmail.com Distribution: ---
Created attachment 54835 --> https://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=54835 Terminal output Wine 1.9.12 Staging
Ashes of the Singularity is a 64-bit only Direct X 11 (and 12 but since there isn't even a d3d12.dll we'll not go into that :) game. I am attempting to run the game in a clean 64-bit only Windows 10 prefix in Wine 1.9.12 Staging.
As of right now, the game crashes on launch and gives me a dialog box with Japanese or Chinese letters in the title bar (no idea why I get Japanese or Chinese letters in the title bar of that dialog box as I have everything in English...) with the choice to either click "OK" or "Cancel" and start the Wine debugger.
Terminal output attached.

--- Comment #3 from Nikolay Sivov bunglehead@gmail.com --- What do you mean by '64-bit only' prefix? According to game page Windows 7 should be enough, why did you switch to Win10? It might be useful to attach +crypt,+tid log, and please consider retesting with Wine from git.

Hi Nikolay,
I am currently compiling Wine from git as you have requested and I have removed "Windows 10" from the title. I initially used Windows 10 because I also wanted to try out the DX12 version out of curiosity :)
I specified "64-bit only" because I have Wine with WOW64 support and so I made an explicit 64-bit prefix since the game is a 64-bit game with no 32-bit version at all.
Once Wine from git gets done compiling I will add the +crypt, +tid log in Windows 7 mode :)

Not sure why this exact executable crashes but it crashes every time I attempt to start the game.
