Bug #: 32592 Summary: From Dust crashes in Chapter 2 (when trying to absorb water) Product: Wine Version: 1.5.20 Platform: x86 OS/Version: Linux Status: NEW Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: gyebro69@gmail.com Classification: Unclassified
Created attachment 43003 --> http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=43003 terminal output
The game crashes at a certain point in Chapter 2, where your task is to 'pick up' water around a totem pole. Absorbing water can be done by pressing and holding the left mouse button. When I position the mouse over the water and press LMB, the game crashes. The crash is fully reproducible and always occurs at the same point. It makes impossible to get further in the game.
Tried with native d3dx, dsound, dinput8, but they didn't help.
Fedora 17 x86 Nvidia 250 / driver 304.64

--- Comment #1 from Béla Gyebrószki gyebro69@gmail.com --- Created attachment 49308 --> http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=49308 screenshot - nouveau driver
The problem is still present in Wine 1.7.24 but only with the Nvidia binary drivers, currently installed 331.89. The game doesn't crash with the open source nouveau driver. At the point in the game where the crash occurs with Nvidia, some light-blue mist is gathering in the air. Maybe this special effect causes the crash in the game with the binary drivers. At the same time with nouveau these messages appear in the terminal:
err:d3d:wined3d_debug_callback 0x213fd0: "GL_INVALID_ENUM in glTexImage3D(target can't be compressed)". err:d3d_surface:wined3d_volume_allocate_texture >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> GL_INVALID_ENUM (0x500) from glTexImage3D @ volume.c / 72 err:d3d:wined3d_debug_callback 0x213fd0: "GL_INVALID_OPERATION in glTexSubImage3D(invalid texture image)". err:d3d_surface:wined3d_volume_upload_data >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> GL_INVALID_OPERATION (0x502) from glTexSubImage3D @ volume.c / 152

--- Comment #2 from Béla Gyebrószki gyebro69@gmail.com --- This is probably a d3d issue as the problem is not present with nouveau (setting component field).

--- Comment #3 from Henri Verbeet hverbeet@gmail.com --- (In reply to Béla Gyebrószki from comment #1)
err:d3d:wined3d_debug_callback 0x213fd0: "GL_INVALID_ENUM in glTexImage3D(target can't be compressed)".
The debug output seems to imply compressed volume textures, which are unsupported / broken. It's possible the nvidia driver crashes instead on this for some reason, although I can't tell from the backtrace.

--- Comment #4 from Austin English austinenglish@gmail.com --- This is your friendly reminder that there has been no bug activity for over a year. Is this still an issue in current (1.7.51 or newer) wine?
