This shouldn't be so. I'm used to opening lots of images at once, and each of
them takes it's place in the taskbar, bringing absolute discomfort.

It would be helpful to report the WM you are using, we can't guess it.

There is no need to set the Component if you have not debugged it.

Well, i tried it both with compiz and ubuntu's default metacity. Same thing,
lots of opened windows in the taskbar.
