Lotus Notes 8.5 doesn't install, the installer aborts with following MSI error:
err:msi:ITERATE_Actions Execution halted, action L"SetDefaultProps.5F3129E8_3AD4_4346_AEE6_A314E2DE64D9" returned 1603
I've added a backtrace with debug channel 'msi' enabled.

Hi, just a wild guess:
In your second log (from Notes) there's lots of warnings, but really only one error reported:
15.04.2009 19:58:45 CActionsCommon/getEnv: ERROR - Environmental variable HOMEDRIVE is not set.
On windows this variable is set to "c:"
maybe that's the problem
Maybe you could try do the following:
export HOMEDRIVE="c:"
Then try install again, see if it changes anything

tried 0.9.58, 1.0-rc5, 1.1.4, installer still doesn't work
