Bug ID: 49164 Summary: Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth crashes after start Product: Wine Version: 5.6 Hardware: x86 OS: Linux Status: NEW Keywords: regression Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: quartz Assignee: wine-bugs@winehq.org Reporter: gyebro69@gmail.com CC: jzeng@codeweavers.com Regression SHA1: f15c23df4a281a93087b5c0d2ca421463c7b9e4a Distribution: ---
Created attachment 67183 --> https://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=67183 terminal output
The game crashes immediately after start. The crash was introduced by https://source.winehq.org/git/wine.git/commit/f15c23df4a281a93087b5c0d2ca421...
Before that commit the game loaded to the main menu just fine (intro videos didn't work though). I tried renaming/removing the intro videos (Windows Media Video 9 files) from ../Development/pcvideo directory, but that didn't resolve the crash.
No demo version is available. This was tested with the GOG.com version.

--- Comment #1 from Jactry Zeng jactry92@gmail.com --- Created attachment 67209 --> https://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=67209 quick hack
Hi Béla,
Thanks for reporting. This quick hack should make the game happy. I have tested it with the Steam version of this title.
Will try to improve and upstream it later, hope this quick hack can help you continue the game before that.

--- Comment #2 from Zebediah Figura z.figura12@gmail.com --- For what it's worth, I'm not particularly happy with faking source pins from the ASF reader; I think we need a real implementation. I'm not sure yet what this real implementation should look like, though. Most likely we want to implement it on top of wmvcore, and that on top of mfplat...
Incidentally, I'm not sure it's worth matching native behaviour and not just creating the source pins in Load() always. I probably should have complained when the test was added. It doesn't matter a lot, though.

--- Comment #5 from Jactry Zeng jactry92@gmail.com --- Maybe it is worth a retest with Wine 7.11, I see Rémi committed some work for the ASF reader recently.

Maybe it is worth a retest with Wine 7.11, I see Rémi committed some work for the ASF reader recently.
Some, but probably not enough; most notably we're not sending samples yet.
