The installer for visual studio 2022 will open but it will not connect to the internet as it will say that nothing is available to install and there's nothing under developer news either.

because of the glitches you may not be able to see the error message. if you run the installer as windows 7 it will not be glitchy at all, but it will be glitchy if you run it as windows 10 or 11.

Everything was tested under a clean wine prefix except for this attempt at a workaround

When using this workaround if you try to close the installer and open it again it will take a long time to show things available to install

sorry i meant no workloads are available to install i think the setup program was able to download the installer in a clean wineprefix

when this happens visual studio creates a log file at ~/.wine/drive_c/users/asdf/AppData/Local/Temp/ with the prefix "dd_installer_elevated" and combining it with the file with the prefix "dd_installer_" it seems to fail because of "Could not find Windows Runtime type 'Windows.Networking.Connectivity.NetworkCostType'."

on this file a few seconds later a message saying "the install operation failed" appears. the delay is due to me running the visual studio installer with WINEDEBUGsetup:+relay,seh and saving the output to a file
