The Steam client shows black window because there are a page fault, see the backtrace.txt file. The client works fine with wine-staging 5.11. The client does not work with wine-devel or wine-5.0-4, the user interface freezes.

--- Comment #3 from Zebediah Figura z.figura12@gmail.com --- While a regression test would normally be useful, I suspect in this case it's going to be a problem with ntdll hotpatching. That was in a kind of broken state at wine-staging 5.12 and probably still is now.
As an aside, the linked instructions aren't particularly useful for staging. There's better instructions on the staging wiki page itself; I'll add a link.
