Summary: Audiosurf crashes on startup Product: Wine Version: 1.1.18 Platform: PC OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: 4plague@gmail.com
Created an attachment (id=20305) --> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=20305) Steam output log
Audiosurf cannot be run from Steam. Running it outside of steam works (but then in cannot run the game itself because of steam missing). In version 1.1.12 it also took down wineserver.exe
Already tried removing .wine/ and reinstalling Steam and Audiosurf. Following report is from a clean install

this is produced after the vcrun2005 is installed (just the errors concerning the library are gone)

--- Comment #4 from Plague 4plague@gmail.com 2009-04-06 10:28:56 --- After vcrun2005 installed, Audiosurf.exe can no more be run. When uninstalled, Audiosurf.exe runs properly again, but still cannot be run via Steam (so no game gan be played).

--- Comment #5 from Vitaliy Margolen vitaliy@kievinfo.com 2009-04-06 21:01:11 --- Your log indicates you have not disabled "steam in-game community".

--- Comment #6 from Plague 4plague@gmail.com 2009-04-07 10:12:14 --- Yes, it does look like that, but it IS disabled. If I re-enable the in-game community Audiosurf does not even display a blank window (which it does normally, but then crashes).

--- Comment #7 from Plague 4plague@gmail.com 2009-06-09 19:19:27 --- I found a workaround - delete (rename) GameOverlayRenderer.dll, then the GetCursorPos is not called and audiosurf works like it should...

--- Comment #8 from Arkadiusz Piekarz piekarzarkadiusz@gmail.com 2009-10-15 16:24:44 --- Audiosurf also kept crashing for me. What I did to solve it was - checked Audiosurf in Wine AppDB (http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=15970) using instructions found there, I: - downloaded usp10.dll (you can grab it from http://www.dlldump.com/download-dll-files_new.php/dllfiles/U/USP10.DLL/1.042... or from your Windows system) - put in in ~/.wine/drive_c/windows/system32 - run winecfg, created entry for QuestViewer.exe (~/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/Steam/steamapps/common/Audiosurf/engines) in Applications tab - while it being selected, went to Libraries tab, chose usp10 from the list and clicked Add - downloaded Winetricks (http://wiki.winehq.org/winetricks) and installed msi2
Finally, Audiosurf launched properly.

--- Comment #9 from Arkadiusz Piekarz piekarzarkadiusz@gmail.com 2010-05-27 18:15:00 --- This bug is fixed in Wine 1.2-rc1, tested on Kubuntu 10.04. The game no longer crashes on startup, even on a fresh wineprefix (no winetricks etc.).
There is a new bug now, where it's impossible to get past the first loading screen, because the "OK" button doesn't react, but it's a separate case. I will file a new bug report for that.
