--- Comment #7 from Damjan Jovanovic damjan.jov@gmail.com 2009-07-04 04:39:39 --- Hi
I am testing this with a fresh install of self-compiled Wine 1.1.25 on Ubuntu 9.04, NVidia FX5200, X compositing off, ~/.wine renamed, Warcraft III v1.14 from original CD.
Also note from bug #12792 that the winecfg "Graphics" tab option "Allow the window manager to control the windows" affects video playback when Warcraft III starts, so I'll test it with and without this option.
Movie playback can be turned off with the registry key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Blizzard Entertainment\Warcraft III\Misc, value "seenintromovie" on either 0 or 1.
Results:
Managed, movies on => movies skipped, game gets to main menu Managed, movies off => game gets to main menu Unmanaged, movies on => movies play, game gets to main menu (but it took a while and I did Alt-Tab to the console and back) Unmanaged, movies off => game gets to main menu
No "FATAL ERROR" message even remotely.
Care to try with a clean ~/.wine? And are you using any special winecfg/registry options? Describe your setup in detail otherwise.

--- Comment #8 from Austin English austinenglish@gmail.com 2010-05-19 16:45:26 --- This is your friendly reminder that there has been no bug activity for 6 months. Is this still an issue in current (1.1.44 or newer) wine?

Presumably if you can get it to start after installing in a clean prefix with latest git then it is fixed.

This is still a bug with 1.2-rc7. I can play with the game settings to not play the intro movie, but if I do not change anything, I get quartz and ntdll console output.
