After getting past bug 29997 the StudioTax 2011 installer then hangs with:

msi: Don't free cached tables in MsiDatabaseCommit.

Can you try this patch?

Log of installer hang with patch

With patch applied the msi 1615 err disappears and the installer still hangs
(new log attached). If I kill the installer and rerun it again the installer
crashes much earlier (second log), wiping the wine prefix gets the installer to
proceed to the new hang location again.

I see no obvious msi issues. You should fix this:
> Could not load wine-gecko. HTML rendering will be disabled.

and try again. If it still fails, attach a +msi,+relay,+seh,+tid trace.

Installer hang with patch (relay trace)

Bit of an update. Even though the installer appears to hang
(+msi,+relay,+seh,+tid log attached) it looks like it does complete the
installation, or at least enough of it that the program appears to start up
fine.

Due to the size of the log I cut off approx 2/3 of the beginning.
