Bug ID: 49761 Summary: Affinity Photo: Fail to run installer Product: Wine-staging Version: 5.15 Hardware: x86-64 OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown Assignee: wine-bugs@winehq.org Reporter: estebanium@outlook.com CC: leslie_alistair@hotmail.com, z.figura12@gmail.com Distribution: ---
Created attachment 68062 --> https://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=68062 terminal output
Summary ================================== Trying to launch Affinity Photo installer from https://store.serif.com/get/photo/trial/windows/ fails.
Expected behavior ================================== Installer launch and installs Affinity Photo
Actual behavior ================================== Installer fails with backtraces
More info ================================== To run the installer at least .NET 4.5 is required. The installer would then install the latest required version (.NET 4.7.2) by itself.
Started with a clean environment: WINEPREFIX=~/.wineprefixes/stock wine wineboot WINEPREFIX=~/.wineprefixes/stock winetricks -q dotnet35 WINEPREFIX=~/.wineprefixes/stock winetricks -q dotnet45 # Set to Windows 7 to run the installer via winecfg: WINEPREFIX=~/.wineprefixes/stock winecfg # Installer fails with: WINEPREFIX=~/.wineprefixes/stock wine Downloads/affinity-photo-1.8.5.exe
Procedure above was successfully tested with custom wine version "wine-5.15-staging-tkg-amd64" from https://github.com/Kron4ek/Wine-Builds/releases/tag/5.15
INFO ================================== ~ >>> wine --version wine-5.15
~ >>> cat /etc/lsb-release DISTRIB_ID=ManjaroLinux DISTRIB_RELEASE=20.1 DISTRIB_CODENAME=Mikah DISTRIB_DESCRIPTION="Manjaro Linux"

--- Comment #2 from Zebediah Figura z.figura12@gmail.com --- This report is a little confusing; your console output suggests that you used plain wine, not wine-staging. Moreover, the symptoms are of bug 45868, in which case wine-staging would actually fix the bug.
Procedure above was successfully tested with custom wine version "wine-5.15-staging-tkg-amd64" from https://github.com/Kron4ek/Wine-Builds/releases/tag/5.15
Please don't do that; only upstream wine and wine-staging are supported in this bug tracker.

This report is a little confusing; your console output suggests that you used plain wine, not wine-staging. Moreover, the symptoms are of bug 45868, in which case wine-staging would actually fix the bug.
Yes, you are right. I don't know how I came to this version. I uninstalled wine and winetricks and reinstalled wine-staging and winetricks.
Sorry for the delay. I had a real fight with installing dotnet. I am not sure if I am affected by this bug here: https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=49532 1. winetricks -q dotnet35 # worked 2. winetricks -q dotnet45 # worked 3. winetricks -q dotnet472 # failed
I installed them one after another, but I was unable to install 4.7.2 finally. My workaround was to use wine 5.10 to install 4.7.2 and use that prefix with 5.15 afterwards.
With wine 5.15 the setup starts now. However I was not able to finish it. See attachment

--- Comment #8 from estebanium@outlook.com --- I must correct my previous statement: The setup doesn't just hang, it ends in a crash. But it took almost 20 minutes until the setup crashed. My subjective opinion is that wine 5.15 seems to be extremely slow. Even under Linux the installation should be finished in a few minutes. Logs are attached.
