Summary: Gangsters 2 Demo (German): mouse is unusable in main menu since wine 1.3.19 Product: Wine Version: 1.3.19 Platform: x86 OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: directx-dinput AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: earns.61@gmail.com CC: julliard@winehq.org
In Wine 1.3.18, mouse in main menu was sluggish but usable. After updating to 1.3.19, I am usually getting one of the following results: * mouse is initially hidden as main menu appears * mouse arrow is seen but hung continuously * mouse can be used within the first two seconds or so since I start moving it, then cursor disappears
conducted regression testing: c52f41541578f5a11a596ca3d56aa1eb1aca51ea is the first bad commit commit c52f41541578f5a11a596ca3d56aa1eb1aca51ea Author: Alexandre Julliard julliard@winehq.org Date: Tue Apr 26 12:54:39 2011 +0200
dinput: Use a 1x1 clipping rect instead of warping the mouse in exclusive mode.

--- Comment #1 from Bruni earns.61@gmail.com 2011-05-15 04:47:02 CDT --- still present in 1.3.20 I do not know if it is a sign of improving or worsening, but only two out of those three issues have left :-D * mouse is initially hidden as main menu appears * mouse arrow is seen but hung continuously
I have also noticed that since mouse became unusable in 1.3.19, when main menu is loaded and I try to move mouse, console prints such a message "err:ntdll:RtlpWaitForCriticalSection". Perhaps this and non-working mouse are linked together. BTW yesterday, having had a look at http://www.winehq.org/pipermail/wine-users/2002-January/006628.html I even had a stupid thought that mouse was actually not working only because wine was not provided with enough hardware performance to show mouse cursor. But of course, no.

--- Comment #6 from GyB gyebro69@gmail.com 2011-05-22 13:49:52 CDT --- I can reproduce the reported problem with the mouse in 1.3.19 and .20 but mouse moves correctly again in the current git version (wine-1.3.20-230-g456e48e).
Please try the game in wine-1.3.20-230-g456e48e (or newer), probably it is fixed for you, too.

I did `make clean && git reset --hard 456e48e && CC="ccache gcc" CFLAGS="-g -O0" ./configure --disable-tests && make` and I cannot confirm GyB's result. Mouse is still not working for me. It either disappears once I start moving cursor or is hidden at all. I can only see blinking sandglass cursor stuck at center of screen while moving it.
Ubuntu 11.04 Natty Narwal X server 1.10.1 Tested in full-screen mode both with ticked option "Automatically capture the mouse in full-screen windows" and without it.
Austin, please, give me some time to confirm whether the bug got fixed the next time you check your Bugzilla mail.

Bruni is running Xserver 1.10.1, mine is 1.9.5: might it be a difference?

--- Comment #16 from Bruni earns.61@gmail.com 2011-08-05 13:05:15 CDT --- @GyB I have mouse issues in the main menu again. Given your good configuration, could you please test the game anew? If you is able to move in-game cursor and click buttons so as, for example, to get into the black area of the game's tutorial, this means that I have troubles with configuration in my Ubuntu. If mouse is unusable for you too, this is worth opening a new bug.
