Bug #: 29774 Summary: Texture filtering doesn't work in nGlide Product: Wine Version: unspecified Platform: x86 OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: mihal812ag@gmail.com Classification: Unclassified
Created attachment 38665 --> http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=38665 NFS: Porsche Unleashed as it works with nGlide
When I run games, such as Mortal Kombat 4, or Need for Speed: Porsche Unleashed using nGlide Glide wrapper, there is no texture filtering. Textures look pixelated as if it were sotware rendering.

--- Comment #6 from lightning204 netabc100@gmail.com 2012-02-03 06:34:37 CST --- Same here, this is a well known Wine bug. Tested with Ubuntu 11.04 + Wine 1.3.xx + GeForce 480.
JFYI: nGlide is a 3DFX Glide API to DirectX 9 API wrapper.
What makes you think your games should look any different?
If you run these games under original Windows (XP/7) with nGlide, textures are filtered with bilinear (D3DTEXF_LINEAR). Looks like Wine use D3DTEXF_POINT. Mortal Kombat 4 is good example.
Maybe Wine handles device9->SetSamplerState and its 8 texture stages differently than original DirectX 9??

UPDATE: Carmageddon II: Carpocalypse Now is another confirmed app affected by this bug.
There is a number of 250 games that can be affected (not sure how many of them work with Wine). Full list can be obtained on nGlide's website [http://www.zeus-software.com/downloads/nglide/compatibility].

How Carmageddon II in 3dfx Glide mode should look like.

--- Comment #9 from Austin English austinenglish@gmail.com --- This is your friendly reminder that there has been no bug activity for 2 years. Is this still an issue in current (1.7.16 or newer) wine?

--- Comment #10 from Sven Arvidsson sa@whiz.se --- Created attachment 60658 --> https://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=60658 Porsche screenshot with Wine 3.3
I think this bug can be closed. It seems to look ok with Wine 3.3 and nGlide 2.0. Screenshot is attached for comparison.
New nGlide supports a Vulkan backend these days but screenshot was made in D3D9 mode.
