Summary: Modo crashes wine. Product: Wine Version: 1.1.21 Platform: PC OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: critical Priority: P1 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: harlequingraphics@yahoo.com
In this particular case it is Luxology Modo that is messing up. I installed it without a hitch but when I try to run Modo I get the error. Notepad runs in wine but nothing else. I have tried Photoshop and Autocad and all three get the same error message pop up. Here is the link to pastebin.
I can provide you with terminal returns on the other programs if you need them but for right now let's get this taken care of. It may fix the others.

Attach files rather than pastebin them on bugzilla, please.

--- Comment #4 from kd0afk harlequingraphics@yahoo.com 2009-05-14 07:50:22 --- When you need a program and it or any other windows program aside from notepad doesn't work at all(!) I would say that it is pretty critical and I would like to get it fixed so I can go back to using it like I did when my computer was a windows machine. Any idea on how long it will take to work this bug out? I can install the other two programs that are not working to maybe see if there is some sort of a connection if that would be helpfull.

You haven't mentioned that at all before. Please explain your situation in the clearest way possible. Have you tried a clean wineprefix? WINEPREFIX=~/wine-test wine modo.exe

You need to cd to whichever directory the application modo.exe is in before that.

wine test for modo
Sorry about that.
You are lacking DLLs required to run the application. Does modo.exe run under windows as-is? Your program probably ships those DLLs somewhere. Move them to the directory "Luxology/modo 302". Then try to run it again.

Looking at the output, you need dnssd.dll, front3.dll, frame3.dll and nexus3.dll

this is the return after downloading dnssd.dll and placing it in the folder: /home/shawn/.wine/dosdevices/c:/Program Files/Luxology/modo 302

You're telling wine to use a different wineprefix than your in.
Also, not critical.

According to Ryan Troy https://launchpad.net/~rtroy it is. And if you think about it; Wine (windows) e (emulator), it just makes sense.

Wine developers have better things to do than informing Ubuntu developers of things that a 15 second google search would tell them.

Better things to do like what? Fix bugs that people post instead of quibble about the origins of words?
