Summary: starcraft II beta downloader has long pauses? Product: Wine Version: 1.1.42 Platform: x86 OS/Version: Linux Status: NEW Keywords: Installer Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: dank@kegel.com
I'm seeing big waits while starcraft2 is trying to update. The last lines on the screen after each wait are
fixme:wininet:InternetSetOptionW INTERNET_OPTION_SEND/RECEIVE_TIMEOUT 10000 fixme:wininet:InternetSetOptionW Option INTERNET_OPTION_CONNECT_TIMEOUT (10000): STUB fixme:wininet:InternetSetOptionW INTERNET_OPTION_SEND/RECEIVE_TIMEOUT 10000
http error code = 404
Not sure what's going on. I haven't compared with real windows yet, either.

--- Comment #2 from Dan Kegel dank@kegel.com 2010-04-15 14:42:46 --- I was thinking that we're not handling the 404 right; maybe the native one is smarter about retrying, or something like that. We seem to just sit there for ages.

Have you tried timing a fresh install under both?
Is this with the blizzard downloader getting the full installer? Or are you running the full installer, and it's downloading the latest patches?

--- Comment #4 from Dan Kegel dank@kegel.com 2010-04-15 15:44:56 --- Haven't timed both.
This is running wisotool sc2, which uses the downloaded installer for 0.2, which then downloads about five or six patches.

--- Comment #5 from Austin English austinenglish@gmail.com 2010-04-15 17:20:09 --- Does native wininet help?

--- Comment #6 from Austin English austinenglish@gmail.com 2010-04-16 18:58:28 --- I think this is invalid. For me under wine: real 5m26.909s user 0m8.870s sys 0m3.790s
with native wininet: real 6m34.367s user 0m10.450s sys 0m5.030s
on windows: 7m21.144s, and that didn't even install all the patches. With those, it was probably 2-3 more minutes.
