Summary: The Bat! v4.2.35.0 (beta) shows some icons in menu in black Product: Wine Version: 1.1.31 Platform: x86 URL: http://www.ritlabs.com OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P3 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: newsletter@Schiermeier-Software.de
Created an attachment (id=26676) --> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=26676) 'The Bat!' menu-icons of darkness...
This is a regression in the wine v1.1.31 (in v1.1.30 was ok): some (!) icons inside the menu are showed dark close to black.
This is a regression. Unfortunately I cannot do a regression test. (I know how to do it, because I did it for The Bat! more than twice in the past). wine crash after compilation and I didn't reach the section of the bisection with the wrong patch. So I installed wine v1.1.30 from archive, whre The Bat! was working and than wine v1.1.31, where The Bat! show this behaviour. (And yes: I use always an new ~/.wine).
Sorry for this late report: this bug is shown since the version v1.1.31 up to now (v1.1.40).

This mistake didn't happen in v1.1.30, but in v1.1.31. So is somewhere between.
Next weekend I will try to get the Regression Test working and recompile all.

A new problem appear: the highlighted text is very unsharp (see were the arrow points at).

A new problem appear: the highlighted text is very unsharp (see were the arrow points at).
This could indicate activated font anti-aliasing. Check your fontconfig settings, Wine now use it to activated anti-aliased text output.

I tried both: with and without the anti-aliasing, but no change, sorry.
A note to the dark icons:
as I said in my bugreport, this 'dark icons' first appeared in the version v1.1.31. This I figure out by using the corresponding Debian packages from 'lamaresh.net'.
I tried to do a regression test, but wine refused to compile this versions.

--- Comment #9 from Joerg Schiermeier newsletter@Schiermeier-Software.de 2010-05-24 12:50:58 --- The unsharp item is caused by something else: my local configuration.
I just build wine from actual source. There are no glitshes.
Only some icons are dark as I described before.

Hi Alexandre: I update mi git copy some minutes ago and compile wine to do a regression-test. In respect to 'http://wiki.winehq.org/RegressionTesting' I want to run 'The Bat!' with wine v1.1.30 and a clean and new ~/.wine.
But the application refuse to start and shows this: --- wine: Call from 0x7b842842 to unimplemented function user32.dll.UserRegisterWowHandlers, aborting fixme:ntdll:RtlNtStatusToDosErrorNoTeb no mapping for 80000100 err:module:DelayLoadFailureHook failed to delay load user32.dll.DialogBoxParamW wine: Call from 0x7b842842 to unimplemented function user32.dll.DialogBoxParamW, aborting wine: Unimplemented function user32.dll.DialogBoxParamW called at address 0x7b842842 (thread 00c0), starting debugger... --- This 'thread 00c0' is counted upwards.
I'm stuck.
Any advises please?

btw.: this also happens in the actual version from the page of RitLabs. This is 'The Bat! version 4.2.42.0' which I used for the actual test with this result.
Hopefully I hit now the problem...!

Joerg,
The Bat! 5.xx had a regression (vs. The Bat 4.xx) with blacked out check boxes through the menus. This was fixed in about (??) 1.3.19 (I think).
Far as I am concerned this bug is out of date. I use The Bat! 5.xx as my primary email client and it's working fine...
All the best Bob

I know this bug and it was discussed here: http://www.batboard.net/board5-therapiepl-tze/board109-therapieplatz-version... But it is caused by The Bat! and wine. At this time The Bat! was beta. So not relevatn for wine.
This bug instead was as Alexandre supposed caused by the graphic driver and/or X. So it is obsolete.
