When installing Rockstar Games Launcher via its installer, the installer never quits and is shown to be stuck on the loading bar. During that, the app is leaking memory really fast, filling up my 32GBs of ram in approximately 1 minute. I can only track the issue down to 6.20 since that's the version the installer started working at, but it's present in 6.22 too. Strangely enough, after you kill its process, the installer actually succeeds at its jos and successfully installs the launcher. I don't know what I can provide to help with this, apart from the link to the installer, so let me know.

With a +heap trace the installation slows down enough to see that the installer first installs some VC redistributables. However, while this main application is waiting it is still ballooning. It's not clear what it's doing after the redists but the ballooning continues.

--- Comment #4 from Ken Sharp imwellcushtymelike@gmail.com --- Tested on Windows 10 (because you never know) and there was actually some ballooning, though it peaked at around 4 GB while the redists were being installed (or reinstalled, or just checked). Unfortunately, though, I couldn't recreate this on further testing. The installation does complete successfully in Windows 10.
The launcher screen is supposed to tell you what it's doing (i.e. “Installing Windows Redistributables...”, etc.) but it doesn't do this in Wine. Indeed it is at this point when the ballooning begins.

Yes but I think what happens is that the UI is frozen and the app is leaking memory but the installation process itself succeeds before the app is killed.

An older version of the installer (e.g. 1.0.42.369) still installs fine on Wine 7.14. Version 1.0.42.369 seems to have another content format too if you extract the exe file.
