Bug #: 34451 Summary: divide by zero in diablo 3 Product: Wine Version: 1.6 Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: major Priority: P2 Component: directx-dsound AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: joris@revivingworlds.org Classification: Unclassified
Created attachment 45865 --> http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=45865 The backtrace
When running diablo 3 in wine 1.6 or the later versions of wine 1.5 I always get this divide by zero error immediately after starting it. I have an nvidia geforce 680gtx connected to my receiver and tv using hdmi. When i make sure that the nvidia sound device is busy (using speaker-test) and then try to launch diablo it runs without errors and sound comes from the speakers connected to the internal sound card.

--- Comment #3 from Andrew Eikum aeikum@codeweavers.com 2013-09-05 13:57:15 CDT --- Thanks for the log. What operating system are you using, and how are you installing Wine (by package, or by building it yourself)?
This reminds me of Bug 29431 and Bug 22316.

--- Comment #4 from Joris Nijnuis joris@revivingworlds.org 2013-09-05 14:25:26 CDT --- I use Kubuntu 13.04 and I use the packages from the extra repositories of this site. I have also tried 1.5.* packages which have the same bug. The latest version I found that does work is 1.5.14. The first few versions after that have some bugs that have been fixed, that also happened at startup and probably prevented me from getting to the point of this bug, but the rest of the versions after that have this bug. I have tried several times to compile wine, but all I can manage to get is wine64, which says that the exe incorrect, probably because it is a 32 bit exe.

--- Comment #6 from Bruno Jesus 00cpxxx@gmail.com 2013-09-11 12:49:25 CDT --- Please don't change the original reported version, a message saying the bug is still present in wine version x.y.z is enough.

--- Comment #7 from Joris Nijnuis joris@revivingworlds.org 2013-10-06 16:21:34 CDT --- I just found a workaround for the problem. I use wine 1.7.3 from the package, that still has the problem when I start the program normally. Instead I first start a speaker-test on both the hdmi and the built in card, then with those two running I start diablo and the launcher pops up, then I stop the speaker-tests and press play in the launcher, and the game start normally, with sound through hdmi working. Starting world of warcraft I normally had the same error as with diablo 3, when I tried this fix using the launcher, it failed to start the game correctly. (The launcher disappears, wow seems to start with a transparent window showing the desktop, then the mouse reappears, but clicking only gives pc speaker error beeps.) But when I start the game using Wow.exe, skipping the launcher, and then stop the speaker-tests when the game is running, the game is still running but I have no sound. If I then go to the settings of wow and change the audio device back to hdmi (it was set on the on board apparently), then the sound start working again.

--- Comment #8 from Andrew Eikum aeikum@codeweavers.com 2013-10-07 13:38:39 CDT --- Can you attach a log like before when using your workaround with Diablo 3? There's some relevant commits in between 1.5.14 and 1.6 that could be causing a problem like this.

--- Comment #11 from Austin English austinenglish@gmail.com --- This is your friendly reminder that there has been no bug activity for over a year. Is this still an issue in current (1.7.37 or newer) wine? If so, please attach the terminal output in 1.7.37 (see http://wiki.winehq.org/FAQ#get_log).
