Summary: Source Insight: Text in Editor Window overlaps with other text. Product: Wine Version: 1.1.21 Platform: PC OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: turanammo@rocketmail.com
Created an attachment (id=21809) --> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=21809) Text overlap in editor window
Text seems to overlap with other text, usually the overlapped text is shown twice. Happens when the cursor is moved upwards or downwards using the keypad arrow keys up/down respectively.

This seems to be a real pain, once overlap occurs need to shift window focus to another application to rid of the overlap. There seems to be some kind of a refresh issue, when cursor is being moved down using up/down arrow keys. Could someone tell me if this is a duplicate/known issue/fix already available?

How is this different from bug 18666?
for bug 18666, some random text from the editor window is seen on top of *other applications* when Source Insight is *no more* in focus. But for this bug, there is text being overlapped *in Source Insight* itself. This (Bug 18954) is of a more worrisome nature and it impediments proper editing of text in the Source Insight editor window.

--- Comment #5 from Rein Klazes wijn@online.nl 2009-06-16 01:32:17 --- I do not see this with version 3.50.0063
Do I need to do something specific except scrolling with the arrow keys?

I use 3.50.0063 too. Nope, nothing specific is required. Scrolling using the arrow keys would suffice, the issue is random. I am beginning to suspect the graphics driver for this behaviour. I have a ATI Technologies Inc RS690M [Radeon X1200 Series] on a Toshiba Satellite A215, Wine did have problems with ATI drivers (Bug 4561). I am not sure though.

--- Comment #8 from Philby John philbyjohn@gmail.com 2009-12-20 09:11:18 --- No overlap is now seen in Source Insight, once you uninstall "fglrx".

This issue has reappeared. When you move the up/down arrow keys you can see screen tearing (refer attached image). I have tried the latest version of crossover-20.0.4-1.rpm and the issue persists.
Graphics Card: NVIDIA Corporation GK208B [GeForce GT 730] (rev a1)
I have tried all the methods outlined here and none of them work.
1) https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/NVIDIA#DRM_kernel_mode_setting https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/NVIDIA/Troubleshooting#1._GL_threads
2) winetricks physx
3) nvidia-drm.modeset=1
4) X11 xorg.conf change Option "metamodes" "nvidia-auto-select +0+0 {ForceCompositionPipeline=On}"

Another screenshot of the issue
https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=18954
--- Comment #13 from Philby John philbyjohn@yahoo.com --- Issue seen on FC26 and FC33 (Wine 6.x). This issue is not seen on FC31 (Wine 5.19)
$ wine --version wine-5.19 (Staging)
I now suspect (not confirmed), that this has to do with the below packages. Installing then on FC31 seems to have solved the screen tearing. But this needs to be confirmed.
Wine Gecko (32 bit) version 2.47.1 Wine Gecko (64 bit) version 2.47.1 Wine Mono Windows Support 5.1.1
