I conserved the comprehensive log of the installation

WINEDEBUG=+msi,+service,+relay,+seh,+tid  wine  setup.exe  >
ms_office2010_msi_32.log  2>&1

wine-1.5.2, Ubuntu 12.04, x86_64;

However, size of the gzipped log is more than 100MB....Any help. please ? I try
to place it somewhere.

advapi32: Return a fake handle from EventRegister.

This is a bit of a stab in the dark but does this patch make any difference? 
What is your Windows version set to?

Now it can load OSPPSVC.EXE, but it dies here:

err:msi:ITERATE_Actions Execution halted, action L"CAInstallSppPlugin.x86"
returned 1603

I've seen this before. If you get an error like this:
> 002f:err:winediag:SECUR32_initNTLMSP ntlm_auth was not found or is outdated.

try installing the winbind package. If it still fails, please open a new
bug and generate a +msi,+relay,+seh,+tid trace.

I have this installed:

extra/libwbclient 3.6.5-1 [installed: 3.6.4-2]
    Samba winbind client library

This is under archlinux.  Is that enough?

No, you'll need more than a client library.

Hi again,

with fresh wine, wine-1.5.3 (set as Windows 7), proper wine-mono, the
installation of MS Office 2010 failed on

err:rpc:RpcAssoc_BindConnection rejected bind for reason 0

I didn't include extra WINEDEBUG flags as the log file shall be too big to be
posted.

If there would be a need of complete log file, I would prefer doing grep of
important lines.

Any help. please ?

Does it fail in the same way if you set the version to Windows XP? Please open
a new report and attach a full (compressed) +msi trace, this bug is fixed.
