[Bug 21921] New: can't open metaeditor (wine 1.1.39)

since wine 1.1.39, i can't open metaeditor either from direct link menu or
inside metatrader icon launcher: try to open then silently abort. Got some
"fixme" into .xsession-errors.

when loading new source codes, they are compiled but can't know if warnings
exist.

installing winetricks (latest) then update everything about fonts does not
help: meta-editor does not open.

yes it's a regression as 1.1.38 and previous had not this problem. As i've no
experience in using git and perform debugging, i'll wait for next release and
reinstall 1.1.38 today.

I can't confirm this as a regression. All the following versions are working
and have same behavior:

* 1.1.37, 1.1.38, 1.1.39, 1.1.40

Steps taken:
 $ cd .wine/drive_c/Program\ Files/MetaTrader\ 4/
 $ winetricks gecko
 $ winetricks mfc42
 $ wine MetaEditor.exe

...and if you want to get rid of black lines use "winetricks corefonts"

done everything from post 7 below:

- trying to run MetaEditor from console, get: module not found.

- inside MT4, clicking on MetaEditor icon: try a few seconds to open and
silently stop.

Is this a broken link i have to restore (and how) ?

with new wine 1.1.41:

- from Mt4 clicking on icon : try to open for a few seconds then silently close

- from console:

oem@dub:~$ wine metaeditor
wine: cannot find L"C:\windows\system32\metaeditor.exe"

of course path is wrong, should be: 
/home/oem/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/MetaTrader

- into the path above: double clicking on terminal.exe start Mt4 but clicking
on MetaEditor.exe does nothing (same rights for both)

Don't understand what's happen.

If i choose MetaEditor to edit a file, i got these errors, and cant open that

I'm bit perplex when reading your post.

1. you wrote...  wine MetaEditor.exe ... nothing happen

Immediately followed by "If i choose MetaEditor to edit a file, i got these
errors"....

2. oem@dub:~$ WINEDEBUG=+relay,+seh,+tid wine MetaEditor.exe &> /tmp/output.txt

is wrong. You need to run it from install folder not home directory. That is
the reason, why you get: cannot find L"C:\windows\system32\MetaEditor.exe"

I'm sorry for the wrong output.txt send previously, here is one built from the
right place but it's very huge:

- running the command into console, the output.txt grow up to 5.5 Mio but don't
return to prompt.
- closing console, output.txt jump to 120.1 Mio !!!

Hope you can do something with this.
