Bug ID: 43072 Summary: Sonos Controller Program Error with Wine 2.O Product: Wine Version: 2.0 Hardware: x86 OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: critical Priority: P2 Component: -unknown Assignee: wine-bugs@winehq.org Reporter: john.peters@gmx.fr Distribution: ---
Created attachment 58255 --> https://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=58255 Created via Program Error window
Sonos controller worked with Wine 1.8 with Ubuntu 16.04. I had this bug problem but solved it by going from 1.9 back to 1.8. My wine version has been updated to 2.0 and I now have the old problem back. I can't remember how I downgraded to 1.8. I get the program error window almost immediately on starting SONOS. Can you tell me if the problem exists elsewhere and how I can go back to Wine 1.8? Thanks

Can you retest with wine-2.8 to see if the problem is still there? https://www.winehq.org/download
If it is, the next step is a regression test: https://wiki.winehq.org/Regression_Testing
Is there a free download of the app available that has the problem?

--- Comment #2 from Louis Lenders xerox.xerox2000x@gmail.com --- A user repoorted trouble with this program also on the forum
Needs dotnet40, after that in wine-3.21 I get a crash after the program seems to hang for a minute or so, looks like ot tries to make connection (?)
However, in Staging it starts fine, so there must be a Staging patch that fixes this..

--- Comment #3 from John Peters john.peters@gmx.fr --- Thanks for the feedback. I have since upgraded to Ubuntu 18.04 Unfortunately I had to stop using Sonos with Ubuntu because the Sonos controller is now 64 bit only and I was using wine in 32-bit mode. Is anyone using Sonos in 64-bit Ubuntu? Is there any chance it might still be possible to use it?

Could you point to download link for your Sonos? I got it from http://update-software.sonos.com/software/pc/dcr/SonosDesktopController92.ex...
sha1sum ~/Downloads/SonosDesktopController92.exe 78b38bc9498362f6db59f5d7d015b7ebeebde509 /home/louis/Downloads/SonosDesktopController92.exe
As I said, it seems to start fine in Staging 3.21. Is waiting for speakers to connect(?) couldn`t test further than 1st screen

--- Comment #5 from John Peters john.peters@gmx.fr --- I last tried with SonosDesktopController72.exe I have downloaded SonosDesktopController92.exe but I get a message that my operating system is not adapted to the Sonos Controller. I guess it's trying to install a 64-bit version in a 32-bit wine or vice-versa.

Try in a new (fresh) WINEPREFIX

--- Comment #7 from John Peters john.peters@gmx.fr --- I have created a new environment WINEPREFIX for wine staging. Installing dotnet40 caused some problems, but Sonos is more or less working. However, I have an incomplete menu to manage Sonos - no management of the database. Maybe that's what only works in a 64-bit environment......
