This is a regression bug, I've performed tests and here's bisect's info on the
faulty commit :

Armageddon is an expansion of Doomsday. I will try that demo and see if it
produces the same bug.

for the record, the game window does show up for roughly a second before
crashing. But it still doesn't have any of the game graphics in it.

Here's a demo of Hearts of Iron 2. It presents the same bug as Armageddon, and
doesn't require the .NET framework.

nb : Doomsday is a standalone expansion of Hearts of Iron 2, and Armageddon is
an expansion to Doomsday.

I don't see any crash right here, the game start fine though a bit slow (only
"played' for 10 seconds, but for you it crashes right away??)

Confirmed for Doomsday with both Wine 0.9.50 and 0.9.51 - the game gives an
"unable to initialize video" error at startup after playing the movies, then
crashes immediately.

That looks to be a different bug, since for me (and the others that reported
about WoW) the game crashes right away, doesn't even load the videos.

I have played Paradox games a lot in Windows. The first thing you must do
before start playing is to rename avi folder to avi.old. That will prevent the
bink player to start. It can make game to chrash.

Yes, integrated intel chipset.

Issam Mehssan is right (Comment #6).
It is related to DRI and i965.

It is already fixed upstream:

I recompiled mesa, DRI from git and now there are no crashes on my intel X3100
and wine 0.9.55.
