Summary: Lego Star Wars II: In-game sound does not work Product: Wine Version: 0.9.55. Platform: PC URL: http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version &iId=6150 OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: minor Priority: P2 Component: directx-dsound AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: arbrandes@gmail.com
Created an attachment (id=10900) --> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=10900) Lego Star Wars II log under Wine 0.9.55
In spite of what the latest test data on appdb says, Lego Star Wars II runs well with Wine 0.9.55 as long as you provide d3dx9_30.dll and xinput1_2.dll. However, even though background music plays fine, none of the in-game sounds work. These include:
* gunshots * voices * footsteps
I am guessing this is a dsound bug of some sort. I'm willing to provide more debug data under a developer's discretion.

This problem exists on wine 0.9.60. I've attached my wine log.
I've tried to override dsound.dll to native, and use the Windows version, but without luck - the game won't even start with dsound set to native (well, it starts but I get a black screen, and no more).

--- Comment #8 from Michael Monreal infernux@web.de 2008-10-19 05:40:20 --- Sure this was fixed? Maybe there is a regression because I cannot get this to work in wine 1.1.6.
Both Lego StarWars 1 and 2 show the _same_ problem: the games work mostly fine (including music) but no sound effects (lasers etc).
Can you please try again with 1.1.6 and see if things work?
Notes: - I did not install the full DX9c, only d3dx9_30.dll and xinput1_2.dll - before playing I kill pulseaudio, so I'm using pure ALSA - I have to enable FBOs to not get graphical glitches, but that's all, the rest is new separate .wine dir
Any special settings (for alsa?) I'm missing?

It is working fine with 1.1.5. I did test 1.1.6 the other day and noticed sound effects weren't working as well. I didn't have time to do any regression tests, though. So I can at least confirm there is a regression here.
I think I needed d3dx9_36.dll as well.

--- Comment #11 from Michael Monreal infernux@web.de 2008-10-20 12:23:08 --- Ok, I downgraded to 1.1.5 and indeed sound effects play 100% correct, amazing! I filed bug 15694 for the regression in 1.1.6. Thanks!
