Bug #: 28728 Summary: No sound in WoW after upgrading to 1.3.30 Product: Wine Version: 1.3.30 Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: chemacg@gmail.com Classification: Unclassified
After upgrading to wine version 1.3.30 there is no sound in WoW, without any changes to the configuration i downgrade to 1.3.29 and voilà, there is sound.
I've seen some changes on the audio tab in winecfg between 1.3.29 and 1.3.30, maybe this is in some way related to this?

--- Comment #3 from Jerome Leclanche adys.wh@gmail.com 2011-10-16 04:45:47 CDT --- What is your selected driver in winecfg->audio on 1.3.30? And what's your selected driver?

--- Comment #4 from Jerome Leclanche adys.wh@gmail.com 2011-10-16 04:46:06 CDT --- (In reply to comment #3) Er, what's your sound system setup?*

--- Comment #5 from chemacg@gmail.com 2011-10-16 06:20:41 CDT --- I have KDE with phonon and the Xine engine
In winecfg i have:
selected driver: winealsa.drv (i can't modify this)
Output device Voice output device Input device Voice input device
These four are set as (system default), i've also tried changing it but it's the same, there is no sound.
Also, i see this when i go to winecfg/audio tab
fixme:alsa:AudioClient_GetMixFormat Don't know what to do with 10000 channels, pretending there's only 2 channels fixme:alsa:AudioClient_GetMixFormat Don't know what to do with 10000 channels, pretending there's only 2 channels fixme:alsa:AudioClient_GetMixFormat Don't know what to do with 10000 channels, pretending there's only 2 channels fixme:alsa:AudioClient_GetMixFormat Don't know what to do with 10000 channels, pretending there's only 2 channels fixme:alsa:AudioClient_GetMixFormat Don't know what to do with 10000 channels, pretending there's only 2 channels
Though i see it with 1.3.29 too but only when clicking on "Test sound"

--- Comment #6 from Jerome Leclanche adys.wh@gmail.com 2011-10-16 08:27:02 CDT --- (In reply to comment #5) The Xine engine is deprecated. Can you try with the gstreamer backend (which I think is the default now)?

--- Comment #9 from Dwight jett_713@yahoo.com 2011-10-17 17:49:08 CDT --- I can confirm this bug. Sound worked perfect in 1.3.29 updated to 1.3.30 and sound no longer works. For the moment i have downgraded back to 1.3.29 and have sound again.

--- Comment #15 from chemacg@gmail.com 2011-10-20 13:56:01 CDT --- Though in latest wine-git the patch failes at Hunk #4 of dsound8.c, i had to add the last line manually

--- Comment #16 from Andrew Eikum aeikum@codeweavers.com 2011-10-20 13:58:34 CDT --- Wonderful (Sorry for the patch apply failure mistake). I'm going to mark this as a duplicate of that bug, since it's fixed by the patch and the logs show the same failure (opening plughw:0,1 instead of default).
