Summary: CTRL key automatically released? Product: Wine Version: 1.1.24 Platform: PC OS/Version: Linux Status: NEW Keywords: download, source Severity: minor Priority: P2 Component: user32 AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: austinenglish@gmail.com
Fire up notepad, type some gibberish, then use "CTRL+A, CTRL+C, CTRL+F". This brings up the find menu. Now, while still holding CTRL, press CTRL+V. Instead of pasting, you'll just get 'v'. Let go of CTRL and press CTRL+V. You'll get your gibberish pasted.
Very annoying, now that I'm using Notepad++ as my regular (dogfood) text editor.

--- Comment #1 from Ken Sharp kennybobs@o2.co.uk 2009-06-22 18:49:28 --- I found that the CTRL key was not released, HOWEVER, if I press CTRL+F and then CTRL+V, my gibberish is pasted into notepad itself, not in the search box where it should be.

Hmm, yeah. That should be a separate bug. I was testing with Notepad++, and only verified that CTRL+V didn't work in notepad (didn't try release and then press).
Either way, both work in windows.

--- Comment #3 from Dmitry Timoshkov dmitry@codeweavers.com 2009-06-23 03:36:12 --- I can't reproduce this bug, the one with pasting into main window instead of Find dialog does exist though. Can you reproduce any of those with native notepad?

Not that I've found. I think it may be related to an old bug where CTRL was no longer available if you switched virtual desktops.
The new window that CTRL+F brings up seems to the cause of the problem. If you do: Notepad++ asldkfjasldfjasldkfjalsdkf CTRL+A, CTRL+C, CTRL+V it works fine

--- Comment #5 from Bruno Jesus 00cpxxx@gmail.com 2011-10-06 23:23:15 CDT --- Works for me in 1.3.29 and NPP 5.9.3 Unicode:
1) Open Notepad++ 2) Type asldkfjasldfjasldkfjalsdkf 3) Press CTRL+A, CTRL+C, CTRL+F (keep holding CTRL) 4) Press V (while still holding CTRL)
It pastes the copied text to the search box.
