Ritlabs The Bat! v3.99.29 uses the new advanced API call RegGetValue to read
string configuration from the Registry.

Please implement support for this call.

Please describe what the actual problem is rather than trying to guess what's
wrong.

'The Bat!' always asks at startup for its settings after installation.
It does not remember changed settings.
Install, You will see.

This was not before they used the new advanced API call RegGetValue
(versions <3.99.25)

Have you removed your ~/.wine directory and reinstalled Bat?

What I did?

First try:
1.) Rename ~/.wine to ~/.wine_OLD
2.) Installing wine v0.9.58
3.) Generate new ~/.wine with 'wineprefixcreate'
4.) using of all dll from wine - no native
5.) Installing 'The Bat v4.0.20.

Until now no problems.

5.) Starting up 'The Bat' with the setting inside wine 'win2k'. The 'First Run'
dialog appear. See http://appdb.winehq.org/appimage.php?iId=15622.

6.) Inside 'The Bat' it is not possible to choose an email-adress from 'The
Bats' adressbook. Send Mail don't work.

7.) Close 'The Bat!'. Start again. The 'First Run' dialog appears again.

Second try:
1.) set wine to 'winxp'.
2.) start of 'The Bat!'
3.) 'First Run' dialog.
-end-

Third try:
1.) kill ~/.wine
2.) Generate new ~/.wine with 'wineprefixcreate'
3.) Set wine to 'winxp'
4.) Start 'The Bat!'
5.) 'First Run' dialog.

Fourth try:
1.) kill ~/.wine
2.) Generate new ~/.wine with 'wineprefixcreate'
3.) Set wine to 'winxp'
4.) Linking some dll-files to native windows dlls
(comctl32.ocx, mfc*.dll, oleacc.dll, rchtxde.dll, RCHTXDE.DLL, riched20.dll(!),
RICHTX32.OCX, ShellExt, stdole2.tlb, STDOLE2.TLB, tapi32.dll, winspool.exe)
5.) Start 'The Bat!'
6.) 'First Run' dialog.

As I knew, since 3.99.26 TheBat was improved it's routines act with windows
registry to get compatibility with windows Vista. And it now doesn't work with
wine. I'll stop at versions 3.99.1 & 0.9.55 - this work fine.

Hello!
In the latest version of wine (v0.9.61) this problem is fixed: now the settings
are saved.
Tested with  'The Bat! v3.99.24'.

(Other problems are still there. See bug report.)
