Summary: Samsung Kies installer stops early (again) Product: Wine Version: 1.3.4 Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: j.reitsma@concepts.nl
According to the last comment (comment #6) from Alexandre Julliard, bug 23788 (regarding Kies_1.5.1.10071_32.exe) was fixed in wine 1.3.0.
In wine 1.3.4, on OpenSuse 11.3, I try to run Kies_1.5.3.10093_82.exe. After a few seconds where the Install Shield Wizard can be seen building up, I get on the console (<...> is a placeholder for my login name)
wine ./Kies_1.5.3.10093_82.exe fixme:shell:InitNetworkAddressControl stub fixme:dwmapi:DwmIsCompositionEnabled 0x33edec <...>@linux-onme:~/Downloads> fixme:advapi:SetEntriesInAclA 5 0x33f84c (nil) 0x33f908 fixme:storage:create_storagefile Storage share mode not implemented. fixme:advapi:LookupAccountNameW (null) L"<...>" (nil) 0x33bc04 (nil) 0x33bc08 0x33bbfc - stub fixme:advapi:LookupAccountNameW (null) L"<...>" 0x163ca8 0x33bc04 0x1644d0 0x33bc08 0x33bbfc - stub fixme:advapi:LookupAccountNameW (null) L"<...>" (nil) 0x33bc04 (nil) 0x33bc08 0x33bbfc - stub fixme:advapi:LookupAccountNameW (null) L"<...>" 0x170da0 0x33bc04 0x170638 0x33bc08 0x33bbfc - stub fixme:shdocvw:taskbar_list_DeleteTab iface 0xd4b540, hwnd 0x902c8 stub! fixme:shell:InitNetworkAddressControl stub fixme:dwmapi:DwmIsCompositionEnabled 0x33b6d8
and a frame with no contents.
I have to Ctrl-C wine, and to kill the C:\windows\profiles<...>\Temp\KiesInstall2\setup.exe process to get rid of the frame.
Apparently something goes wrong again here...

--- Comment #1 from Dmitry Timoshkov dmitry@codeweavers.com 2010-10-18 01:59:03 CDT --- Does the application run correctly with presumably fixed Wine version 1.3.0? If yes, please provide the results of your regression testing: http://wiki.winehq.org/RegressionTesting

--- Comment #2 from j.reitsma@concepts.nl 2010-10-18 13:22:14 CDT --- I have deleted the wine 1.3.5 and associates, killed -15 the running wineserver and downloaded wine 1.3.0, the 586-taste for opensuse 11.1, that being the closest to my environment (which is x86_64, opensuse 11.3).
Running the installer with this version gets me some further: I get dialogs for language selection, license agreement and product selection. Then I get a small frame without contents popping up the installer window; if I click in this frame, I get a message which I will upload as an attachment. In dutch it says that the installer cannot connect to the fileserver, and that I should check my network connections. Which are fine, by the way. Clicking OK here end the installation with "Installation aborted".

--- Comment #4 from j.reitsma@concepts.nl 2010-11-08 15:06:34 CST --- By accident I noticed I can move the frames without content (mentioned in my original post) with the left Alt-key. Then real windows appear, and I can choose the language and the software to install.
Wine then begins to install, but on some moment it gives a window with a setup-error, and on the console messages appear that I will add as an attachment.

--- Comment #7 from Raph raphael.droz+floss@gmail.com 2012-03-19 06:48:17 CDT --- Using Wine 1.5 and Kies 2.2.0.12014_18 the installer succeeded (internet connection seems mandatory though and some DLL errors occured).
Anyway for Kies.exe :
wine: Install Mono for Windows to run .NET 2.0 applications
=> will try that later.

Looks like it needs winetricks mfc42, but the install works till the end, so marking as fixed
Couldn't find the original version, though, so OP reopen this bug if this bug still occurs.

--- Comment #10 from j.reitsma@concepts.nl 2012-04-01 13:00:14 CDT --- @Frédéric Delanoy: I'm afraid your comment 6 did not pass my spamfilters, so I didn't react. My apologies.
Indeed the installer works now, be it that there are lots of registration errors.
Kies.exe is installed OK, so this bug is rightly closed.
It doesn't start OK though, though I installed Mono for Windows (cf comment 7). I'll see if I can do the winetricks mfc42 suggested in comment 8, else selarch for a bug on this, if not found enter one.
Thanks so far!
