Summary: Riched20 assertion failure when running DNS9.0 Product: Wine Version: CVS/GIT Platform: PC OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: richedit AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: susancragin@earthlink.net
Created an attachment (id=14825) --> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=14825) Last few lines of terminal output before crash.
To recreate crash:
Installed Dragon NaturallySpeaking 9.0 Preferred with wine-1.1.1-55-g6dd7f06 Enabled pulseaudio by running the following: padsp winecfg In audio, I selected OSS, toggled off others, pushed default sample rate to 4800. Closed winecfg. Navigated to folder, then ran padsp wine natspeak
DNS ran great for a while, then crashed. I was pushing the program hard. The error seems to have nothing to do with sound; however, usually DNS runs without crashing and using PulseAudio is the only thing different that I did.

--- Comment #1 from Austin English austinenglish@gmail.com 2009-01-20 02:39:31 --- Removing deprecated CVS/GIT version tag. Please retest in current git. If the bug is still present in today's wine, but was not present in some earlier version of wine, please update version field to earliest known version of wine that had the bug. Thanks!

--- Comment #2 from Susan Cragin susancragin@earthlink.net 2009-01-20 05:09:14 --- Austin -- I think this bug should be closed out. (1) The crash was caused by using pulseaudio, and the easy solution at the time was to remove pulseaudio because wine didn't support it. Wine does support it now. (2) If the bug hasn't gone away it should be re-filed because the description is no good--the bug is not caused by pulseaudio. (3) I have not installed and tested DNS 9.0 Preferred recently. 9.0 has been replaced by 9.5 in both the Standard and Preferred editions, and all new purchasers get a disk with 9.5 on it. Any further testing and or support of 9.0 is probably useless. Susan
