Summary: Curse Client v4 crashes on install Product: Wine Version: 1.1.31 Platform: PC-x86-64 OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: elmano@gmx.at
Created an attachment (id=24946) --> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=24946) console output of wine when running the curse setup
The new version of the Curse Client (a tool to manage game addons, esp. for WoW) crashes upon install. on the first try it did some "downloading .net profile 1.1" stuff or sthg and crashed then, now it crashes immediately after starting the installer. Afterwards an empty IE-window pops um (only window border, white content, can be closed without problems)
I've attached the console output if that helps :/

--- Comment #2 from Jeff Zaroyko jeffz@jeffz.name 2009-11-25 03:23:45 --- does anything change if you install dotnet20 with winetricks in a clean prefix then run the installer for Curse Client?
try upgrading to 1.1.33 too.

--- Comment #3 from Immanuel elmano@gmx.at 2009-11-25 12:32:23 --- updating to 1.1.33 isn't really an option, as there is not winepulse ppa for that (at least none that I know of, the one I know follows the ubuntu packages which still are at 1.1.31). also what is a clean prefix *puzzled*?
anyway, just tried installing .net framework 2.0 but after 20 minutes of having the installer hang in "initializing installation" without doing anything (no hd-access, no moving progress bar, no nothing) I had to kill it -.-

If you don't know what a clean prefix the second part of your reply is moot. /home/youruser/.wine is your prefix, where your installed programs and data is. either move it or do something like this to use a new prefix temporarily:
WINEPREFIX=~/.wine-20824 sh winetricks dotnet20 WINEPREFIX=~/.wine-20824 wine curse_setup.exe cd ~/.wine-20824/drive_c/Program\ Files\Curse\ Client WINEPREFIX=~/.wine-20824 wine curse.exe

If you are using winepulse you basically moving yourself into an unsupported status. Installing winepulse makes your Wine installation invalid for this bug tracker.

--- Comment #6 from Immanuel elmano@gmx.at 2009-11-26 01:43:18 --- jeah, in the time you wrote that comment you could have plopped open wine without pulse and try to verify this instead of blaming me that I want a system where I can play with wine and still listen to music -.-

--- Comment #8 from Greg Sutcliffe winehq@emeraldreverie.org 2010-01-26 08:00:33 --- Hi all,
I spotted this bug report and thought I might contribute my findings, since I'm interested in getting this working.
First, system info: Ubunto 9.10 x86-64 wine --version -> 1.1.37 (from "deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/ubuntu-wine/ppa/ubuntu karmic main")
I downloaded winetricks fresh today, and the step "WINEPREFIX=~/.wine-20824 sh winetricks dotnet20" completed absolutely fine. However, the next step (using the latest setup.exe from Curse.com's site) failed while installing the .NET profile. I'm attaching the console output from both steps and the temp log from windows\temp<blah>\install.log
I'm no .NET expert but I'm more than happy to test any further ideas the devs would like tested.
Best regards, Greg

The failed install of Curse Client v4
This is .net 3.5 failing to install, so a duplicate (to be more precise: dotnet20 SP1/2 fails to install) .
