Bug ID: 40272 Summary: The Forest: Chat doesn't work Product: Wine Version: 1.8 Hardware: x86-64 OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown Assignee: wine-bugs@winehq.org Reporter: sworddragon2@aol.com Distribution: ---
On joining a multiplayer game and pressing enter the cursor does blink in the bottom center of the window but typing any characters doesn't show them then. Also messages from other players seems to be not visible too.

--- Comment #2 from sworddragon2@aol.com --- On testing this with Wine 1.9.19 I'm seeing this line spammed in the terminal:
err:module:find_forwarded_export function not found for forward 'xinput1_3.XInputGetStateEx' used by L"C:\windows\system32\xinput1_4.dll". If you are using builtin L"xinput1_4.dll", try using the native one instead.
I remember that this was not the case a few days before with Wine 1.9.19 and the game input got stuck after pressing enter in a multiplayer game. Maybe an upgrade of a library caused this bug and prevents me now testing this issue. I'm posting the terminal output after the new issue vanishes.

On testing this with Wine 1.9.19 I'm seeing this line spammed in the terminal:
err:module:find_forwarded_export function not found for forward 'xinput1_3.XInputGetStateEx' used by L"C:\windows\system32\xinput1_4.dll". If you are using builtin L"xinput1_4.dll", try using the native one instead.
This specific thing may be due to http://source.winehq.org/git/wine.git/commitdiff/2b5c93f77999279896c82a6b2f6...
But it works fine in the tests, it is weird that Wine is not finding the function from inside the game. I never seen such error before so I don't know what could be wrong.

--- Comment #4 from sworddragon2@aol.com --- I have figured out that this new issue only happens if The Forest gets started while Steam is running in the background (this explains why I didn't saw this issue a few days before with the same version of Wine). So now there is a chance that this could be an issue with Wine and I have created an own ticket for it: https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=41428
