Bug ID: 37659 Summary: A Vampyre Story: videos go into infinite loop Product: Wine Version: 1.7.31 Hardware: x86-64 URL: https://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=vers ion&iId=14604 OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown Assignee: wine-bugs@winehq.org Reporter: domen.vrankar@gmail.com Distribution: Ubuntu
Wine version: wine-1.7.31 WineHQ url: https://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=14604 OS: Gnome Ubuntu 14.10
I'm running the game in emulated desktop mode (800x600). Game starts normally but you have to exit videos by pressing space bar or they go into an infinite loop. Intro video can be stopped even if it goes into repetition while on the other hand in-game videos must be terminated before they start repeating otherwise the game starts running in the background and space bar is no longer able to terminate the video (probably due to loosing focus).
If video is interrupted soon enough the game works without errors.

--- Comment #1 from Béla Gyebrószki gyebro69@gmail.com --- Please attach terminal output: http://wiki.winehq.org/FAQ#get_log
I assume you're running Wine patched with the CSMT patchset and if you disable CSMT the problem is gone. Is that correct?
I can't reproduce the problem in plain Wine (videos end properly without looping) but the problem does exist when CSMT enabled in wine-staging. I tested with A Vampyre Story (Dotemu version).

--- Comment #2 from Domen Vrankar domen.vrankar@gmail.com --- As far as I know I'm running Wine without patches. Where do I check this?
Regarding the terminal output I won't be able to attach it as my laptop broke a few days ago... Can I provide some other info that doesn't involve me running the game?
I'm not certain if this is relevant but I was running wine on my laptop with both intel and nvidia graphic cards (I did not start bumblebee explicitly so I'm guessing that Ubuntu doesn't run Nvidia optimus out of the box).

As far as I know I'm running Wine without patches. Where do I check this? From a terminal 'wine --version' should provide the version of your Wine. With
a broken computer this will be hard to achieve...

I tested this bug with a discrete Nvidia gfx card and binary drivers 340.65

--- Comment #4 from Béla Gyebrószki gyebro69@gmail.com --- The demo version can be used to reproduce the problem: http://www.gamershell.com/download_35998.shtml
Start the demo with ../game/main.exe The intro movie is looping when CSMT is enabled, but it ends properly with plain Wine.

wine --version prints out wine-1.7.34 (was 1.7.31 at the time of reporting and I haven't tested with 1.7.34 if the issue still exists).
I put the disk into a different computer so I can provide you with additional information as long as it doesn't involve running the game as the hardware is not powerful enough for that.

--- Comment #6 from Béla Gyebrószki gyebro69@gmail.com --- Still present in wine-4.0-52-gf5d7d9cccc. Beside the looping intro videos the game is very sluggish when CSMT is enabled. Disabling CSMT fixes the reported problem.

--- Comment #8 from Christian Costa titan.costa@gmail.com --- Tested with wine wine-6.0-rc5 and the demo just freezes with Control-C not working. The command "wineserver --kill" needs to be used.
Same behaviour with all 3 renderers although the pandagl show these 2 lines compared to the dx ones:
:display:windisplay(error): Videocard has no supported display resolutions at specified res (1024 x 768 x 32) :display(error): Window wouldn't open; abandoning window.
