Summary: Nota Bene requires AUTOEXEC.NT Product: Wine Version: 1.1.9 Platform: PC URL: https://www.notabene.com/download/demos/nbdemo80.exe OS/Version: Linux Status: NEW Keywords: download, Installer Severity: minor Priority: P2 Component: dos AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: austinenglish@gmail.com
Nota Bene, on install, checks for AUTOEXEC.NT in system32. If it doesn't find it, it restores its own copy, but we should have our own copy. Shouldn't take much to implement.

I see the same, I strongly suspect it's a regression, but I don't have very old wine compiled (even 5.0 fails to build for me).

--- Comment #11 from Fabian Maurer dark.shadow4@web.de --- FWIW, with the fix from bug 52488 (and ignoring the render issue bug 52713) there is no AUTOEXEC.NT warning.

Yes, I can confirm that with the fix from bug 52488, there is no autoexec.nt warning and no crash.
I was curious, so I set up a ubuntu 16.04 vm for testing. With that, I was able to compile older wine (2.0), and can reproduce this issue.
It was 'fixed' by: commit 6737ac70d6233f6b10f397ee8f94cb23c3ea04fb Author: Austin English austinenglish@gmail.com Date: Tue Jan 31 12:59:44 2017 -0600
wine.inf: Set default Windows version to win7.
Setting the windows version to Windows XP shows that the bug still exists in wine-7.4 (same for bug 16222).

--- Comment #13 from Alexandre Julliard julliard@winehq.org --- If the app works fine with the default Win7 version, I'd say that's no longer an interesting bug.
