Summary: Sony Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 9: Fails to start in Windows XP mode. Product: Wine Version: 1.1.35 Platform: x86-64 URL: http://www.softpedia.com/get/Multimedia/Video/Video-Ed itors/Sony-Vegas-Movie-Studio-Platinum.shtml OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: gaming4jc2@yahoo.com
Created an attachment (id=25653) --> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=25653) wine: Unhandled page fault on read access to 0x7061437f at address 0x132b330 (thread 000b), starting debugger...
Not too much of an issue, just use Vista or Windows 7 using winecfg. But still a bit troubling since most all other programs run in Windows XP mode. It freezes at "Sony Chorus FX..." while loading and then get's a page fault on read access.

--- Comment #2 from Anastasius Focht focht@gmx.net --- Hello folks,
confirming, still present.
Interestingly the crash is only seen the first time the app is run after installation. Any subsequent runs will not yield the crash.
The installer automatically downloads and installs the following prerequisites:
* Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 runtime * Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0
There is a bug in msi based installer that needs to be worked around first.
It fails to find WM11 runtime blob in binary table 'WMFDist11-WindowsXP-X86-ENU.exe' (looks like case sensitivity issue) hence you need to work around by pre-installing the runtime.
Download: dl-desktop-apps.sonymobile.com/stage/WMFDist/WMFDist11-WindowsXP-X86-ENU.exe

You need to install WMFDist11-WindowsXP-X86-ENU.exe first as mentioned in comment 2 to get past that.
With that, it installs and the installed .exe starts up and prompts me to register it, but registering it as a trial fails with a message about being unable to communicate with the server. That's not a Wine bug--I get the same message running it in an XP VM. Since the current version of this app is 13, online registration for this old version may no longer be available.

Sounds reasonable. Marking abandoned.
