Summary: Everquest certain areas do not render the models just have blank regions Product: Wine Version: 1.1.20 Platform: PC OS/Version: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: gdi32 AssignedTo: wine-bugs@winehq.org ReportedBy: celticht32@aol.com
Created an attachment (id=20763) --> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=20763) GLXinfo output
I start up everquest: wine EverQuest.exe go into the Plane of knowledge all models are rendered correctly with the patched DLL specified in bug 8357
This problem has been tested and confirmed with both the regular EverQuest and the EverQuest Test Server client. Testing was performed with the D3DX9_30.DLL fix installed, which was obtained from http://angeliqe.com/d3dx9_30.dll on 2008-11-09.
You must change some options in eqclient.ini in order to run the game properly. If a setting is missing, like TextureCache, just enter it into the appropriate section. If you use the default file, VertexShaders are already TRUE, but so is TextureCache which needs to be FALSE.
This is also set per the APPDB Created a empty .wine directory.

Is this still an issue in 1.6-rc2 or higher or is this abandoned ?

--- Comment #7 from Dr. Wes Snyder V wessnyder@comcast.net 2013-08-06 16:25:10 CDT --- Hello,
Seems Wine1.4 works, specifically the version Tony (submitter for Gold rating of game on Ubuntu 12.04) used to install, with only Directx 9 installed and no other modifications. I tried to install with Wine 1.6 and receive the invisible characters. Tony upgraded on a test machine from 1.4 to 1.6 and the characters went invisible.
I have not tested 1.7 yet. Please let me know what I should include for testing. I can create a new VM with Wine 1.4 to upgrade to 1.6 for regression testing. I am using Ubuntu 12.04.

A regression test between 1.4 and 1.6 would be useful. It's unlikely it was fixed before 1.7.0.

--- Comment #9 from Dr. Wes Snyder V wessnyder@comcast.net 2013-08-10 16:34:10 CDT --- Hello,
I tested 1.5.25 64bit and it did not work. However, I tested the following 32bit versions of Wine and they worked: 1.5.24, 1.5.25, 1.5.28, and 1.5.31. Wine 1.6 does not work. I will continue my efforts and report the regression testing from a 32bit computer as I cannot compile 64bit presently.
Compiling works well but when I run it I receive wine mismatch error. No other wine versions are running when I start this one. If anyone has any suggestions, I am all ears (and eyes). I followed this all the times I compiled 64bit: http://wiki.winehq.org/Wine64.
Testing continues...

--- Comment #10 from Dr. Wes Snyder V wessnyder@comcast.net 2013-08-11 11:38:55 CDT --- Hello,
Regression testing completed for 32bit Wine. The following is the output of when the character models disappear:
2014141a253a791fc9c79aae3c8ef3c35b73e658 is the first bad commit commit 2014141a253a791fc9c79aae3c8ef3c35b73e658 Author: Henri Verbeet hverbeet@codeweavers.com Date: Wed May 29 09:45:35 2013 +0200
wined3d: Add support for GLSL based fixed function vertex shaders.

I believe wine-1.5.31-53-g2014141 is the version this started, per regression testing.
Please let me know if anything else is needed.

Please create a new bug with the regression information, and instructions for how to reproduce it with a clean WINEPREFIX. (EQ is still a free download, right?)
