Joaopa: what sort of demo would be helpful? I can pipe the debug output to file, for sure. Or, are you looking for more of a screenshot or video of the failure? You name it, and I'll see what I can come up with.

AFAIK, there is not. I have some of the original CDs, however.

How about boat-loads of info? This tarball includes the output of running the app with WINEDEBUG=+all. I'll dig into this as well, but I could certainly use some extra eyes on it.

wine .wine/drive_c/Overseer/OVERSEER.EXE
Run your app correctly.
+all is useless, use +relay,+seh,+tid instead

--- Comment #13 from Ori Avtalion ori@avtalion.name 2009-10-06 11:32:36 --- I'm also experiencing problems running the game. Specifically, this version: http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/tex_murphy_overseer/
Using git wine 95eb435a33826ee46f87cc687c1ea16c6fc10c8f from Mon Oct 5 16:17:56 2009 +0400.

I assume rsxtool.exe isn't important since it's also missing on the windows machine where the game runs fine. (Part of Intel's RSX audio system).
I'm also attaching a log with the output of "WINEDEBUG=+relay,+seh,+tid".

I can confirm that this is still a problem with wine-1.3.1 on Kubuntu 10.4 (AMD64) with the GOG.com version of Tex Murphy Overseer.
I'm attaching output like the others who had this problem have done.

still a bug in current wine?
Nothing has changed since the original report. The game still crashes right after starting. Terminal output always ends with: err:seh:raise_exception Exception frame is not in stack limits => unable to dispatch exception.

--- Comment #21 from evandy@sapienta.org 2011-08-21 20:33:36 CDT --- This is still an issue as of 1.3.26 (installed via macports wine-devel). I am attaching the wine debug output (WINEDEBUG=+relay,+seh,+tid). I am running a Macbook-Pro, and have tried with both the integrated (INTEL-3000), and external (NVIDIA) gpus. There are a lot of Tex fans who would REALLY like to get Overseer up and running on their macs.
Please let me know if I can provide any additional data.

--- Comment #23 from GyB gyebro69@gmail.com 2011-12-06 13:06:35 CST --- Good news to the fans of Tex Murphy games: at last Overseer starts and runs fine in the latest git version (wine-1.3.34-39-g95f81d1). I tested with the GOG.com version of the game.
The commit that fixed the problem: http://source.winehq.org/git/wine.git/commit/cc06d182fb433c7009dfb640b33d4ec...
You should stick to the default Opengl renderer when starting Overseer, because ddr=gdi causes a crash on launch.
Please re-test with wine-1.3.34-39-g95f81d1 (or newer) and report back what you find.

--- Comment #24 from GyB gyebro69@gmail.com 2011-12-11 01:43:35 CST --- Marking FIXED (the game starts correctly in wine-1.3.34-202-gb0f704d with the default opengl renderer).
A crash does occur with ddr=gdi, but that must be a different problem. I see the same problem with other games as well if I change the renderer to gdi in the registry. The crash is always preceded by these messages: err:ddraw:d3d7_CreateDevice The application wants to create a Direct3D device, but non-opengl surfaces are set in the registry. err:ddraw:d3d7_CreateDevice Please set the surface implementation to opengl or autodetection to allow 3D rendering.
