The 3D models look all messed up. All characters look really strange, with parts like hands, shoes, arms all over the place. Some character animations are defective, and some won't animate at all.
I suppose it has to do with this fixme:
fixme:d3d:state_vertexblend_w Vertex blending enabled, but not supported by hardware

This one demonstrates better the problem. Some characters are messed up. The other look ok, but don't animate.

I see a similar behaviour with Sun VirtualBox. I guess that's because it uses WineD3D too.

The patch in the aforementioned bug fixes the problem for PSU:AOTI too. Tested with the japanese version of the game.

When you set that option to CPU, the problem is resolved too, because AOTI itself will use a software vertex blending rendering method. AOTI never uses software in the character creation screen though but it's no big deal.
The problem still occurs everywhere with Hardware without the patch though.
