Bug ID: 50287 Summary: Cannot create virtual drive for SolSuite in PlayOnLinux Product: Wine Version: 5.14 Hardware: x86-64 OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: major Priority: P2 Component: -unknown Assignee: wine-bugs@winehq.org Reporter: alienprober@protonmail.com Distribution: ---
Created attachment 68854 --> https://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=68854 Konsole Output
I just installed Garuda Linux and have it completely setup. The only issue I'm running into is trying to install SolSuite. It get to the point of creating the virtual machine and just spins. I know the issue is Wine itself cause I had Garuda installed awhile back and had the same issue till I rolled back to a previous version of Wine. I attempted the same this time, removing the current Wine-Staging and installing Wine 5.14. This time however even after doing this I cannot install SolSuite. I launched PlayOnLinux from the terminal and I've attached the output below.

You'll need to delete your existing prefix first, or create a new one using the WINEPREFIX environment variable (i.e. run "WINEPREFIX=/path/to/new/prefix wine ...").
Anyway, I suspect this is a playonlinux problem; the program launches fine for me in 6.0-rc3.

--- Comment #5 from AlienProber alienprober@protonmail.com --- This is a Wine issue. Garuda is the only OS where I have run into this and the only difference is out of the box they have wine-staging installed instead of wine. A couple of releases back I fixed the issue by uninstalling wine-staging and installing wine. This time that's not working. Just used "sudo pacman -Rns playonlinux" and reinstalled Wine 5.23.

There's no such version as wine 5.23. Where are you getting that number?
How are you trying to run the program with wine, and exactly what happens as a result?
https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=50287
--- Comment #7 from AlienProber alienprober@protonmail.com --- it's 5.22, typo. Right now rightclicking the application and selecting "open with wine windows program loader" and then closing properties then clicking on the application on flashes the launcher indicator for a quick second. reinstalled winetricks and got this when i went to run it.

warning: wine cmd.exe /c echo '%AppData%' returned empty string, error message "wine: '/home/alienprober/.wine' is a 64-bit installation, it cannot be used with a 32-bit wineserver."
As this message shows, you'll need to compile or otherwise procure a 64-bit wine, or alternatively delete your existing prefix and create a new one.

--- Comment #9 from Anastasius Focht focht@gmx.net --- Hello AlienProber,
I've downloaded, installed and ran SolSuite 2010 just fine with Wine 6.0-rc4. The Wine version doesn't matter here, late Wine 5.x would work as well. Same with 32-bit vs. 64-bit WINEPREFIX. SolSuite is 32-bit. For 64-bit WINEPREFIX you obviously need a WoW64 Wine (32-bit and 64-bit).
First, you should make yourself familiar with the concept of Wineprefixes (WINEPREFIX). "virtual c: drive" or "bottle" or whatever people call it.

Since 'Garuda Linux' seems to be an Arch-based distro you might find useful information here as well:

--- Comment #10 from AlienProber alienprober@protonmail.com --- OK in Garuda I will just give up, cause it looks to be something specific with it. As I stated above this is the second time I've installed Garuda and both times Wine had issues. Yesterday I installed AcroLinux, and I just installed Wine and it's additional dependencies, and then install SolSuite without issue. I just played to rounds in it and it's perfect. Thanks for attempting to help sort this, but like I said Garuda is the only OS where I have had this problem. Thanks again for the help. Have a great new years.
