Deleted all content inside .wine folder, no wine process running at that time: cd ~/.wine/ rm -r *

Then I can run "wine --version" but not configure it: winecfg 002c:fixme:actctx:parse_depend_manifests Could not find dependent assembly L"Microsoft.Windows.Common-Controls" (6.0.0.0) wine: could not load kernel32.dll, status c0000135

Seeing this error when installing a free game demo in a fresh wineprefix.

It was stuck on the "Configuring..." window. Ctrl+C does not work. The last 7 lines of the log happened after Ctrl+C

This and the previous attachment come from Arch Linux. Somebody had the exact same bug on Manjaro here: https://forum.winehq.org/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=35596 - maybe there's a pattern?

The last log complained about not finding files, like: 0034:warn:file:NtCreateFile L"\??\C:\windows\system32\kernel32.dll" not found (244318)

Even though they exist on the filesystem.

But this log says 'Unable to create file L"C:\windows\wininit.ini"' which is actually correct, there is no wininit.ini.

Went through the trouble of building Wine from source, same output. So this is probably not the Arch package maintainers fault.

Wrong attachment, sorry.

Output with WINEDEBUG=error,warn+all, the command quits with exit code 53 but the "Updating Wine configuration" window is still there unless I do wineserver -k

I might do some more proper regression testing, though it takes a while to compile Wine...

Hmm, for some reason `drive_c/windows/syswow64` is empty.

I copied over those files from another Wine prefix (which was setup with an earlier Wine build) and now the program seems to work, despite the crash during Wineprefix creation.

When creating a prefix with WINEARCH=win32, everything works perfectly well, no workarounds needed.

Can Otto confirm if this fixes the problem, or should I create a separate bug report?
